drheller1
Hey! I'm currently designing a knife and I wanted to try to make a damascus steel pattern into the metal and I want it to look good. Anyone have any tips and tricks to do this? I don't feel right about going on Google and throwing patterns in that might be copyrighted or owned by someone, so I wanted to do them myself. I have not seen much of any Damascus patterns in shape form on Google anyway and I've seen no tutorials of how to do it on here. Any help is much appreciated! Welcome to the forum Perhaps you can give us an example of what you are trying to do? By the way, you can get free Damask patterns from here: https://pixabay.com/images/search/damask pattern/?manual_search=1 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. Solution Red ochre Posted October 10, 2022 Solution Share Posted October 10, 2022 I think @drheller1 is after ways to create the patterns created when sword steel is repeatedly folded. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damascus_steel I would start by running the built-in clouds effect, then try my Artistic/Contour effect (in my pack), then distort this pattern by stretching and or tiling it. My Distort/Aardvark and @Pyrochild's Tools/Liquify could be useful. 6 Quote Red ochre Plugin pack.............. Ahhh - I'm not that familiar with that term, obviously 😬 I tried it with: 1. Hexagonal grid 2. Dents. 3. Layer to Color burn. 4. Gradient mapping. 5 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.
