I have just installed paint.net onto a new laptop and in diagnostics within paint.net, I notice there is more than one .dll of the same type Any reason why? (see screenshot) I downloaded it from the official website too. Also paint.net is taking around 2 minutes to open after I click on the icon. Windows 10 is up to date and on version 20H2 19042.844. Hopefully all you need to do is delete one of the folders. Perhaps someone will have more information about this. Usually, after the update, paint.net takes longer to start. This is due to the internal configuration of the program parameters. Store version is 3.5 minutes, both instances are without any plugins installed apart from the ones that come with the program. When I had windows 7 and later 8.1, launch time was around 20 seconds. For whatever reason they have it split across multiple DLLs. None, only the standard effects that come with PDN. Cold start is over 2 minutes (Free version) Uninstalled store version now. I guarantee that's why the app takes awhile to start up. There's only so much that can be done for something that old, unfortunately. I'm not sure why it's taking 2 minutes for you -- I wouldn't expect worse than 20 seconds, and even that would be surprising. So, something else could be getting in the way. I'd recommend disabling antivirus (temporarily!), and seeing if that helps. You can also create something called a performance trace, documented here https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/113249-how-to-submit-a-performance-trace/, which would give me very precise information. You'd want to start tracing (step 3), and then start the app, let it finish starting up, then close the app, and then start the app ... and keep starting/stopping like that until you get at least 60 seconds worth of tracing, then click the Save button (step 4).
