  1. I honestly had no idea this was what it was for. In any case, I will consider my plugin idea unnecessary. Thanks, BoltBait. This thread can be closed.
  2. Hello, experienced coders: I am in need of your valuable assistance in developing a one-click plug-in. My purpose in writing this plug in for a simple reason so I'll describe what I do in my steps prior to photomanipulations: Convert image to fully white (this is usually done by using Curve). Create a new empty layer, drag it down below the image, and backfill it with black. Merge the layer. Copy the merged layer. So far what I have managed to acheive is have CodeLab run a simple script that convert all the RGB values to white. What I want to do now is tell CodeLab to backfill transparency with solid black, and this is where I need your assistance. The code is below.
  3. As you like to say, there's more than one way to skin a cat.
  4. I like the one by KrisVDM and it's part of his plug-in pack.
  5. Like Photoshop's Select brush tool? I think that is a long way off, but in the meantime, this plugin can do the work.
  6. Very similar to the technique I used on one of my photomanipulation, The Call. https://postimg.cc/rzGx5N2G To keep the outline of the person, you have to create a mask and play with blending mode. I also used the eraser tool, set the softness to 0% so it can "blend" with the model. There were some trial and error, but those are the best learning experience.
  7. Try this. You will just have to get in the habit of adding text to its own layer.
  8. @ReMake, I have to say, looking at the Photoshop's filter and your Emboss+ pictures, I'd say you managed to nail Emboss+.
  9. I use Parallel as I think it is easier to have Windows installed without worrying about license, a major issue for Microsoft! I tried to use VirtualBox and found it to be clumsy to use. The only reason I had to use Parallel, other than owning an iMac, is to use Visual Studio for my C++ programming class and the iMac version was terrible. In addition, I use the Student edition of Windows for cost reason. To install Paint.NET inside Parallel is just like installing the software on a Windows based machine. Nothing to it. A word to wise - make sure to have a very generous amount of RAMs as I have observed that Windows will bog down the RAMs when it's running Updates.
  10. Ok, what you need to do is when you finish saving as JPEG, you can hit undo (CTRL + Z) and it will restore your layers, then save again as PDN.
  11. @BoltBait I definitely would like that feature. Kill two birds with a stone. However, the OP really need to get in the habit of saving as PDN to keep layers intact, and then use Save As... to export as .PNG, .JPG, etc. It is a learning habit, though.
  12. Have to agree the newer icons look sharper. Even as I switch between a iMac and an extended monitor, the newer icons are sharper. Seriously, some people just need to get over themselves or uninstall PDN and move on to another software. The complaining is similar to what every parents face from their stomping, temper-tantrum throwing teenagers say, "If you love me, you would give me <insert request here>..." 🙄
  13. Dumb question here - is there a way for PDN and the plugin architecture to automatically block users from using older version, forcing the user to upgrade? The past few days, I have noticed more folks complaining about the new icons and one threatening to keep the older version just to keep the icons. Reminds me of the folks who complained about the superiority of Windows XP while the world moved on.
  14. I found Paint.NET to be far more user friendly than, say, GIMP, or even *gasp* Photoshop.
  15. Ok, didn't think I have ever seen that before. Now I'll just tip toe out of here.
  16. What is "Nullsoft Install System v2.51?" Don't think I have ever seen that before.
  17. After receiving a request and encouraged to make an official release, here is the BlurBlend plugin. This plugin was created in CodeLab where the source image is copied, with the Gaussian blur running while presenting you with a host of blending options ranging from Paint.NET's default blending modes and @ReMake blending algorithms he shared in the Plugin Development Central. The Interface The plugin will be found in the Blur Effect submenu. Please see @lynxster4 wonderful Ariel image to see how this plugin can be used. BlurBlend.zip
  18. Use a combination of sine wave plugin, alpha mask, and drop shadow plugin. Hmph, forgot to add some kind of checkerboard pattern to demonstrate transparency, but whatev.
  19. Which one are you referring to? The text formations I recognize to be part of dpy plugin pack. Search through the Plugin Index for what you are looking for.
  20. Hello, Ishi. My advice to you would be to read photography tutorials (Picture Correct is a great website to learn tips, tricks, and techniques). In addition, learning how to correct color balance utilizing your camera and buying good quality grey card which will calibrate your camera's white balance sensor is another step. Here, I took your first photograph and edited it slightly. I used a couple of techniques that was on this forum, and I am not sure if it's buried in the tutorial graveyard. What I did was: Increase the width and height of the photograph by 1,000 pixels, keeping portion the same. Filled the white space around the photograph with a light grey color. Using Levels within the Adjustment menu, I changed the color slightly. Changed back the size of the photograph to its original dimension. Duplicated the layer and ran the default Emboss at its factory default setting. Finally, I changed the blending mode to Overlay and flattened the image. For more advanced technique, my challenge to you is to look at Photoshop tutorials, try to match the technique utilized by Photoshop with PDN. It is possible.
