  1. Greetings, That would be dependent upon the quality of the photo and how 'busy' the background is.
  2. The link that I supplied has 7 replies about attempts for solutions, some replies mention that they had success solving their problem and provided their solution.
  3. The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible
  4. @xod Thanks for the timely update. I had thought that your original plugin had the features that Eli requested when I check yesterday and today it does. Quick work indeed!
  5. We know that the PDN v3.36 was not available at the official PDN web site in recent years, but it is available at some legacy, archive, and foreign web sites even today. I may even have some early versions stored on one of backup drives somewhere. The import thing is to keep current with software updates and to supply as much helpful information as you can when seeking assistance! 🙂
  6. What I do when I use an effect and get a result with settings that I would like to repeat later: 1) After saving I undo the effect 2) Go back a re-select the effect (do not use Repeat or Ctrl + f) 3) After the effect is re-selected I do a Print Screen (to capture the screen with the effect settings displayed) 4) Give the screen capture a meaningful name and save it 5) You can re-apply the effect if you have more work to do on the project or just cancel if you are done
  7. If you have or setup a Microsoft account you can also do file sharing; with an individual or group (such as the forum here); via its OneDrive service. (OneDrive is Microsoft's alternative to DropBox) BTW: There is also Google Drive!
  8. The developer of Paint.NET has assured us that older PDN files are compatible with the newer version, so it is highly probable that you have corrupted files or incorrect file extensions. Getting an error message is evidence of that! I remember seeing somewhere that Rick wrote a fix for that in version 4.2.1. BTW: It was never stated if you are running the current 4.2.9 version of Paint.NET? If the file has an improper file extension try this plugin: If you want to test your PDN file with another program I would highly recommend trying Chasys Draw IES. It can open PDN files with layers intact. It cannot write to PDN format, however! Chasys Draw IES can be found here: https://www.jpchacha.com/chasysdraw/
  9. It appears that evolution and extinction are the natural order of things. Just this week I came across a documentary on Amazon Prime Movies on the life of Geoffrey Chaucer. I watched it because it reminded me of time in college that I had to read the 'Canterbury Tales' for a British masterpieces class. We had to read it in its 14th century Middle English text. I am happy that I don't have to read or speak it today. This notion applies to 17th century Early Modern English text of in the works of Shakespeare or of the King James Bible. Language, technology, and culture; has and always will, undergo a change! As for stamps; maybe there will be a Wikipedia or even a museum of philately in the future. 🙂
  10. There were only two forum members that have replied to your comment and I think both have a well developed sense of humor and irony. I think that you are being a bit sensitive! Let's 'stamp' out this needless sensitivity now! 🙂
  11. You have to see for yourself. I am using some plugin packs from 2008 and most still work just fine in Paint.NET 4.2.9. If a plugin doesn't work it will halt the system and give you a report and you can visit the Program Files>paint.net>Effects folder and removed it. So save your work periodically so if there is a halt or crash you wont have to start from the beginning.
  12. That's okay. Now you know and can move forward with improved understanding.
  13. It is 'voilà', it is French for 'here (it is)'.
  14. The frame is combination of processes and plugins. The two plugins are: Effects>Texture>Light Rays plugin by MadJik Effects>Render>Frames plugin by MadJik After creating the black and white Light Rays gradient texture, I placed rendered and adjusted opacity Frame on top of it.
  15. I never used it until today when it crash my system. I guess that I have been hoarding since 2009. A purge is overdue. I have my FileTypes and Effects backup, so I just need to purge the folders on my computer for the new year.
  16. You have to download the zip compressed archive of plugins but you can pick out the AlphaBlur.dll to place in the paint.net>effects folder.
  17. @welshblue The AlphaBlur v1 from 2008 actually halts the operation of the current Paint.NET and generates an error message.
  18. @Pixey I just reinstalled the AlphaBlur v2 plugin and it is working fine. I guess that it did not overwrite v1 the first time. Please delete the false alarms above. Thanks!
