  1. I often have the exact same need and I agree with Eli that TR's PseudoSnap will do the job just fine. However, MadJik's Panelling plugin was written to do exactly this and is, therefore, better suited IMO for the job.
  2. Reading Restoring lost windows will answer all your questions on the subject.
  3. Chris, I think it's better to keep your questions in different topics. If you post an example of a jpeg with the border you're trying to remove, members here will be able to give you better help and instructions specific to the job at hand.
  4. For forum specific searches, use Paint.NET search. To be able to save an image as PDF, you'll need Martin Osieka's 'Portable Document Format' FileType Plugin.
  5. I plan to wait for some feedback, but I expect to upgrade my desktop, where I do most of my Paint.NET play, from Win 8.1 to Win 10 fairly soon after the upgrade is available. It was only last Friday that I upgraded my (2007) laptop from Win XP to Win 7. I suspect I'll have to bury it pretty soon in the same suit.
  6. I often have the need to move objects/selections horizontally or vertically. For smaller distances I use thw arrow keys and the Control key. For larger distances, I always use MadJik's Panelling plugin. The use of the Move Pixels tool with the Control key will be of great help.
  7. I have the exact same trouble as Darkychao has. I really have learn to zoom using the mouse scroll button but old habits die hard. As to Boltbait's suggestion to pin the Taskbar, it always baffled me that most people don't use the auto-hide option. Why would anyone want to give away real estate?
  8. Followed the tutorial to the letter, except for: Steps 8 & 9 - instead of 0094FF I used FFA3F2 for the pink colour. Step 9 - because I had the desired colour as primary and white as secondary, I did not select "swap" in the Cell Texture dialog box. Step 9 - I set the opacity of the Cell Texture layer to 127 (and blend mode at Overlay, as per the tutorial). For the sparkles at step 10, I used Red ochre's Highlight plugin. I also tried to produce the same effect using plain white dots (made with the paintbrush) instead of the Dotspecial font. For reasons beyond my comprehension, I could not produce a good result. So I ended up havimng to copy-paste individual gems from the above PDN file to achieve the result below: ( Photo from: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Marilyn_Monroe_-_publicity.JPG ) To change the hue from pink to blue, I tried a few methods, including Curves and Hue / Saturation. As it turned out, I got a more pleasing result by using Adjustments -> Cyanotype. The simplest solution is often the best. EDIT to correct photo link
  9. Interesing plugin MJW, thank you for sharing. Of course, you meant "coarse".
  10. Thank you. I was able to download it today without any problem.
  11. Thank you for the update Anthony. Is it at all possible to provide an alternative way to download other than FileToLink? I do not have (and I don't want to have) accounts with Facebook or Google+. EDIT: I downloaded your other three plugins from FileToLink without any problem. It's just this one that asks me for verification through Fb or Google because it says it has been uploaded by an "unregistered user". Fancy that!
  12. Excellent tutorial xod, thank you for posting. (You may want to correct the links for the Tile Image effect plugin to point to Curtis' Plugin Pack. The link you have here and also on the "screw" tutorial, point to the Image Tiling File Type plugin).
  13. If you have downloaded plugins from anywhere other than this forum (or from a link on this forum), you should look hard for malware on your machine. Once you do that and you're sure that your machine is clean, follow EER's instructions above. Just make sure you use the latest version of Paint.NET 3.5.11 (or 4.0 beta if you like) and that you install the latest version of the plugin, downloaded from this forum or from a link on this forum.
  14. Yes, it can be a bit confusing. 1. In the Layers window, click on the layer that contains your text (Layer 3 in the tutorial). Select the area around the text with the Magic Wand tool and the Flood Mode set to Global 2. In the Layers window, click on the layer that contains the "liquid" (Layer 4 in the tutorial). Press the "Delete" button on your keyboard.
  15. 1. Open the image in Paint.NET and Zoom In to 200% or more. 2. Select the Color Picker tool and click anywhere on the blue colour. 3. [Menu] Adjustments > Brightness and Contrast and set Brightness -100 and Contrast 100. This will turn the blue background to black. 4. Select the Paint Bucket tool and click anywhere inside the transparent "f". 5. Select the Magic Wand tool and click anywhere on the black background. Hit "Delete" on your keyboard. 6. Select the Eraser tool to clean up the edges of the image.
  16. Here is my experience in the hope that it helps others overcome installation problems (and hopefully help Rick figure out why some machines come up with the 1603 error): Running my PC with Win Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2. Earlier today, I downloaded the new v5.11 and tried to install it with the installer, i.e. NOT through the menu Utilities -> Check for Updates. I noticed that, as the installer "removed previous versions", the desktop shortcut remained on the desktop (only without the PDN icon). Then, when the installer tried to install the new version, it gave me the 1603 error. I deleted the (obviously not working) Paint.NET desktop shortcut and run the installer again. This time the installation run smoothly.
  17. Impressive! Bookmarked. Many thanks Yellowman.
  18. Thank you TR, very nice pack. Congratulations for the pin.
  19. Amazing plugin TR! I have been experimenting (without much luck) with ways to achieve just this effect. It's like you read my mind! Thank you.
  20. Yes it does. Use the plugin twice, once for the top text and once for the bottom text. Better to have each on its own layer. For the bottom layer, deselect (un-tick) the "clockwise" option (just above the radius slider).
  21. TR, the new (supposedly v1.1) PasteFill.dll reads as version no. 1.0.4914.41674 I'll be a few days before I can test it but I thought I'll let you know (in case you forgot to upload the newer version).
  22. Have you tried Cartoonize in Ahmed's Plugins? Another useful link: Plugin Index
