  1. This might work. Make the gradient layer, then tilt it using: Layers > Rotate/Zoom
  2. sim, Which programs specifically are having problems with the small PNGs?
  3. In the top menu of Paint.NET: Image > Canvas Size... Make the canvas size in pixels large enough to fit in both pictures. Next: Layers > Import From File... Import first one, then the second image. Position them with the Move Selected Pixels tool. If you go to your first post, click on Edit, then click Use Full Editor, you'll be able to change the topic title.
  4. Pixey, Have you downloaded the latest plugin pack from here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=10634 Do you have "pyrochild.effects.REQUIRED.dll in the Effects folder as well as the Smudge plugin file?

    RawReader

That one is available here: RawReader
  6. Whether an existing cover can be edited effectively depends on the nature of the pre-existing image. Can you post an example of a cover that you would like to edit? Of course if you have the existing covers in .pdn filetype that makes things much easier.
  7. You're very welcome, glad to help.
  8. In situations like that, I prefer to the phrase: Great minds think alike...
  9. Yes and no. If on their own transparent layer they can still be recolored, resized by selecting and using the Move Selected Pixels tool, etc.
  10. It does that whether the square canvas has an even or odd pixel count. Selecting All and rotating the selection works without a pixel shift.
  11. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/MoveTools.html
  12. Keep each item on its own transparent layer to keep it editable. Text on its own layer is editable as an image, but not in the manner of editing by word-processing after the text tool has been quit.
  13. It is unfortunate that you're limited to JPEG. Even a GIF filetype gives a better result with this image. What are the circumstances that limit you to JPEG?
  14. I'm not sure whether you know what I was talking about previously. Keyboard shortcuts - Ctrl + C ................. Copy Ctrl + Shift + V ...... Paste into a new layer http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/302/carpasted04.png
  15. I just did what I described in my previous post. Added the post back in as a joke.
  16. Barbara Mc, As a starting point, reinstall Paint.NET v3.5.5. If the problem persists, create a new topic describing the problem and with a crash.log generated by v3.5.5. The crash.log you've posted is from v3.5.3. Your situation is similar, but not identical, to the topic of this thread.
  17. Yes, I get the same thing. It doesn't seem like a bug to me. It's very logical for the Save As... dialogue to consider any actions occuring within it to be about the Save As... process. When we rename a file from the Save As... dialogue it puts the focus very pointedly on the new filename. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course, opinions will vary.
  18. Somone should create a Move-the-Post-to-the-Right plugin. http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/8612/carpasted03.png
  19. Part of the BoltBait plugin pack. SelectionTools.dll BoltBait plugins
  20. Hide, Thumbnail and others are in the "Other Styles" dropdown.
  21. JimBo, One way to fake it is as follows. Find similar looking areas in the picture. Copy and paste selections into new layer, position, merge. To make things match up, the pasted/selected bits can be rotated, stretched, compressed using the selection adjustment nodes and the Move Selected Pixels tool. When positioned right, deselect and apply feather object. Some minor brightness adjustment with Brightness / Contrast can give a smoother blend. http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/6614/carpasted01.png You'll probably need to spend some time working with it to build your skill, but it's worth knowing how to do this.
  22. huntkey, Try this: Starting with the full-sized image in your attachment. True Blur Radius: 2.0 (Default) Duplicate Layer, Merge layers. Again. True Blur Radius: 2.0 (Default) Duplicate Layer, Merge layers. Resize to 8%. Duplicate layer, merge layers. Again. Duplicate layer, merge layers. Save as PNG. See whether you like the result.
  23. Okay. I see what my problem is now. The way I was inputting things was positioning the text off-canvas. Never mind.
