  1. This is what I was asking about. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/6075/zipproperties01.png
  2. If you reduce opacity in a layer and don't want to see the checkerboard, then you need to have a background layer with full, or at least adequate, opacity to make up for the reduced opacity in the portrait layer.
  3. Flattening combines all layers into one. Merging is done one layer at a time.
  4. It all depends on what specifically you want to accomplish. If you have the image looking the way you want it, and want to save it as a standard image file - PNG, JPEG, etc. then flatten it. Using the flatten function should make no change to what appears on the canvas.
  5. You can crop the image to a 122 x 92 aspect ratio before resizing. Use Rectangular Selection, in the toolbar change "Normal" to "Fixed Ratio". Set the Width to 122, and the Height to 92. Then: Image > Crop to Selection
  6. TurboQueen, Right-click a zip-file, then click on Properties. What does it say next to - " Opens with: " ?
  7. Yes, go ahead and change those settings back to what they were. If the crashing problems recur, do this again.
  8. Here's another thing to try: Open any folder. In the top-header of the Windows Explorer window, click on: Organize > Folder and Search Options > View Put a tick in: Show hidden files and folders --------------- Remove the check mark from: Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) --------------- Now navigate to, and delete this file. C:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT Reboot the PC, and check whether crashing still happens.
  9. Try this: Open your 5.3 x 4 image in Paint.NET, then resize the canvas ( not resize image) up to one of the preselected sizes with the image anchored in the center. Save and print at that preselected size. ========================================= Also, you might want to check out Simon Brown's Printer+ plugin.
  10. Okay. Now I get what you're dealing with. I suggest that you decide where you want the sun to be first. Place the white paint blob there. The Zoom Blur Deluxe has an adjustable center, so put its center exactly where the paint spot is centered. You'll have to tweak that adjustment to get it right, but it is do-able.
  11. Well, you can hit the Enter key more than once between lines. Or you can reposition the lines manually with Rectangular selection and the Move Selected Pixels tool.
  12. You need to have the sun on its own transparent layer. That way you can move it without affecting anything else.
  13. The Pan function of Layers > Rotate/Zoom can be used for this, also. Repeating the original move one layer at a time, that is.
  14. Area, and Bounding Rectangle dimensions only. Area, and Bounding Rectangle dimensions only. No.
  15. At the bottom of the Paint.NET UI is the status bar, where many of these measurements will show. Length of a straight Line/Curve tool line will show until mouse button is released. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the far right of the toolbar (top header), Units can be set to Pixels, Inches, or Centimeters. So far as I know, not possible.
  16. The zip should open without using winzip. Download to your Download folder. Left-click the zip, then left-click the folder inside the zip. (dpyplugins5) Then copy/paste the .dll files into your Effects folder. ========================================= Copy/paste the DLLs only, don't copy/paste the folder that they come in. Your OS file associations for .zip may be screwed up. If so, this may help. =File%20Folder%20Settings"]Restore Default File Associations
  17. To use custom brushes in Paint.NET you'll need the CustomBrushesMini plugin. Part of Simon Brown's plugin pack. Simon B's Plg Pack (Inc Custombrushesmini) (18th May '10)
  18. Congratulations, Possum, Welsh, and Trineo. WOTW #15 - Typography
  19. Are you downloading the zip from this page? Seismograph - Ed Harvey plugins
  20. You could use Polar Transformations, set to "Transform Polar to Rectangular". I don't know whether OCR software will be able to read the result. Polar Transformations Probably better to just copy what's on the patch with this: http://www.convertcyrillic.com/
  21. I don't know whether you noticed, but I recently tripled the RGB-type pixel count in my avatar.
  22. If you have been trying to change it by uploading the file directly from your PC, try hosting the image at imageshack.us and using the URL. That's what I had to do.
