Starting with a solid gray sloped object. Duplicate twice. Use Adjustments > Brightness / Contrast to lighten the middle layer and to darken the bottom layer. Apply Gaussian blur, radius 2, to the two lower layers. Use the Move Selected Pixels tool with the keyboard arrow keys to move the lighter layer up 3 pixels, and the darker layer to the left 3 pixels. Merge the two lower layers and apply the Trail plugin effect. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/6821/slopegradient04.png ======================================= Settings for blur and layer displacement will vary according to image size.

Pictures Side-By-Side / "Before and After" Images
Sarkut replied to Sarkut's topic in Beginner Tutorials
Yes, that is clearly the more efficient way of doing things. This is targeted for beginners. I don't want to confuse things by telling them to do the "After" before the "Before", and the "Before" after the "After". The tutorial as-is introduces the use of the Move Selected Pixels tool. Your post is a worthy addition. -

Yes. The .pdb files can be helpful to the plugin author for debugging if a problem shows up with the plugin. .

Images saved as the multi-layer PDN (Paint.NET) file type won't upload to hosting sites. Open the PDN image, then do File > Save As... . In the Save As dialog, open the Save as type: drop-down menu and choose PNG. When prompted, OK flattening. The PNG file should upload with no problem. .

Sounds like it was not Paint.NET. Try doing a Google web search on "free image editors for Windows". Check the screenshots at the various links that come up in the search until you see something familiar.

Saving & Replaying Video/Animations (.AVI plugin)
Sarkut replied to ultrakiddo's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Here's a possibility. Save your layers of animation as PDN (Paint.NET) filetype. Extract the layers as PNG files, using the Layer Saver app. (PNG will preserve image quality better than GIF.) http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=9704 Import the PNG files into MonkeyJam (or other suitable video software). http://www.giantscreamingrobotmonkeys.com/monkeyjam/download.html MonkeyJam has an export to AVI option. . -

Running the .exe file is all that you need to do.

No, that won't work. I recommend against having anything but plugin files in the Effects folder. Some plugins have ancillary non-DLL files. Those are OK, too. That should be alright.

Image Umbrella: Signatures, Avatars, Logos & Text
Sarkut replied to david.atwell's topic in The Pictorium
Plugins like BoltBait's Feather Object or dpy's AA's Assistant can be used on objects to smooth out the edges. -
Getting that result with Polar Transformations requires some prep before running the plugin. You can download the PDN file here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=03421622524489047778 It shows the steps from Layer One working upwards. The logo should should be positioned 1 pixel up from the bottom to start. .
