  1. Scenario : 1) select some pixels using any of the selection tools 2) press "del" key to clear content of selection 3) ... Current behaviour 3) the content is deleted AND the selection is lost (same effect as Ctrl+D) Requested behaviour: 3) the content is deleted (full stop) Photoshop works like the requested behaviour. Wanting to clear the selected pixels does not mean wanting to lose the selection. The selection can still be useful after being emptied, to start drawing into it.
  2. barbieq25, thanks for unlocking the thread, I'll be brief. There is a misunderstanding regarding the nature of my request (it's not even a request, it's a good practice suggestion). I'm not asking for the old version. I'm not asking where it can be found (all that I already knew from reading the other thread). What I am saying here is that it is usual practice to keep the one latest version for an obsolete OS available for download. Good practice. For example, if you look at Java, or Flash player, or any legacy software, you will still find a prehistoric version for download on the official website, because that version is known for being the last working version for that system, even if nobody uses that system anymore. They don't offer all versions for that generation. Only the last one, fully patched (here it would be 3.5.11). Still they will ask you to use the latest one. This is not going against the forum rules, because the rules say "you must upgrade to the latest version". Yes. Obviously! In other words: don't try to work out an old version, don't report its bugs, don't criticize them (obviously) , and don't ask old versions to be maintained (obviously), and don't ask for a download link to random old versions somewhere in the gazillion releases (obviously). You get my point, so I'll stop here. Thanks for listening. Elders of the Internet, be wise.
  3. In this thread it is said that the latest version of Paint.Net that worked on Windows XP was version 3.x (possibly 3.5.1 or something). It is also said to whoever needs it: "find it yourself, somewhere else". Well, I'd rather find it on this website. It is not uncommon for software that has maintained compatiblity through several OS's (Windows 2000, then XP, then 7) to offer the latest stable version for that OS, for download. Obviously it would have to be somewhat discreet on the download page, at the bottom in small letters, not right in your face. This is from a faithful Paint.Net user who keeps using it on his old Netbook and doesn't want to depend on third-party fishy mirroring websites.
  4. Thanks for the tutorial. I needed to have better control over what I'm doing, that process adds a bit if hazard and overhead on my own "production" process, for what I'm trying to achieve (rather acute tiles for a platformer) But I'll definitely use it as a basis, it might come handy.
  5. hi all, I'm looking for a plugin that allows me to DRAW tiles. Not to generate tiles from an existing picture. This rules out plugins like those : http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=paint.net+tile+plugin&aq=1&aqi=g2g-b1&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=9982c75a6c5bd35 Such plugins usually work this way: When you draw, what you're drawing is automatically repeated X pixels away and Y pixels away from your cursor (you're drawing in several places at the same time, like you had several mice moving exactly the same way). Please advise, thanks.
  6. Hi, I'm looking for a Paint.Net plugin. I'm looking for something similar to Photoshop's <I-forgot-the-name-of-the-effect> Basically, what you can see in that video, from 0'43'' to 0'49 : http://www.youtube.c...feature=related That is, a painting tool acting a little bit like Smudge: when you paint with that tool, it distorts the picture in the same direction as the mouse movement. You can control the intensity, radius, and that will blend the result smoothly into the original picture. I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the list of Plugins, but there are so many of them, it's hard to tell what each one does. Can you point me in the right direction?
