  1. You need to read the page carefully. You're clicking on the ads, not the download button which is in the top right corner of the page. For a simple explanation, see NiteNurse79's reply here:
  2. To make the background fully transparent, use the Magic Wand tool Select the (partially) transparent background and press delete. NB you may need to play with the Tolerance to get the whole background selected and not the icon (Hint: Tolerance slider is in the Tool Bar when the Magic Wand is selected). Resave or Save As.. with the PNG filetype (because PNG preserves transparency).
  3. Be Careful. They might slap a lawsuit on you for using their logo
  4. PDF of the tutorial added to the first post so users can view it easily offline Enjoy!
  5. Hi SirQuill, Welcome to the forum! For your first issue, see the menu item Edit | Paste in to a New Image (Ctrl + Alt + V). See here: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/EditMenu.html Once your screenshot is captured, this three key combination creates a new image the same size as the clipboard and pastes the contents of the clipboard into the single layered image. Hence there is no dialog prompting you to resize or keep the same canvas size. This little piece of magic is essential for those screenshots
  6. 1. Open Paint.NET 2. File | Open 3. Navigate to the folder containing the photos and select them all. 4. Click Open. Once all photos have opened (hope you have enough memory - do them in smaller batches if you don't): 5. Choose first image (the one on the canvas will do) by clicking on the thumbnail image in the image list. 6. Select Rectangle Select tool . In Tool Bar, choose option Fixed Size (defaults to Normal). 7. In the extended Tool Bar options set the size (Height & Width) you wish your rectangle to be. 8. Click & hold left mouse button on the image. Move the mouse to position the rectangle to suit your image. Release mouse button. 9. Press Ctrl + Shift + x to crop image to rectangle selection. 10. File | Save as... Choose (new) filename and file type (if different from original). Save it. NB if you want to overwrite the original file, just click on Save. 11. Close image. 12. Repeat steps 8-11 for each open image. Howzat?
  7. Did you try the link entitled "Additional Help"? (https://boltbait.com/pdn/InstallingEffects.php)
  8. 'Tis a filetype plugin: ie. expands the types of files that Paint.NET can load and save. In this case Photoshop's PSD filetype can be opened and saved with Paint.NET (after installation by dropping the dll into the filetypes folder). How does it work - exceedingly well! More seriously, Paint.NET cannot replicate everything that PS stuffs into its files & layers, so there are some PS features that may not translate perfectly.
  9. Impressive plugin! You've put an enormous amount of effort into this. Well done! I don't see that these filters belong anywhere BUT in one plugin. You want an individual plugin for each?? RE: Location. Perhaps the plugin could have been placed under the Distort submenu, but I really don't have a problem with this placement because of its very specialized nature. There are many examples already out there...
  10. The least painful method I can think of might be to simply copy & paste the entire post into MS Word. Then use a PDF creator (like DoPDF or PDF995) to wrap the print output up as a PDF file. Doing it this way will preserve all the formatting you worked so hard to develop . The only thing you may need to do is resize or centre the odd image to make it fit the A4 page. The PDF creators need to be installed first. You use them by 'printing' and specifying the pdf software as the destination (i.e. not your usual printer in the print dialog). They grab the output and create the PDF from it. You need to provide the location of the final file and the filename. Easy. If you don't have any joy (or it's just too hard) please let me know and I'll do it on your behalf.
  11. March Update Four new effects this month: Bilateral Filter - @smax Edge preserving noise reduction and blur. Ed Harvey Effects v 3.5 - @Ed Harvey The Ed Harvey Effects package includes two brand new pixelate effects: Hexagon and Cairo Pentagonal. Rotate Zoom+ - @dpy Zoom & rotate a selection or layer with different resampling algorithms. There are no new additions to the list of fyletype plugins. As usual: New entries in the Index appear between horizontal lines and are prefaced with the notation *New* In the pdf, new entries appear on a green background.
  12. Changing defaults: Tool Bar | Tools (dropdown list) | Choose Defaults More >> http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/Toolbar.html
  13. Try applying a metalic sheen with this plugin Metallize
  14. Hi Snow27, Welcome to the forum. This section of the forum is reserved for the publishing of tutorials, so I'll move this thread to the correct area for you. <Moved to Paint.NET Discussion & Questions>
  15. This is the plugin Developers section of the forum. Many users will not be aware that this plugin is available. Reposting the plugin in the Plugins forum with a description of what it does and a how-to guide to usage (screenshots!) would make all the users aware of it.
  16. Sorry about that 'noob @Mr B - I like this tutorial so much that I'd like to make a special request: How about wrapping it up as a pdf and attaching it to the first post? That way we have a way of downloading it to work our way through it offline.
  17. Awesome tutorial. Your attention to detail is very impressive! I think this is worthy of a pin! (interesting windows color scheme....)
  18. Not only is BoltBait awesomely quick to recognize spam, but you should check out his games! I wasted devoted weeks to his adventure game & now Crazy8's has me hooked.
  19. 50 posts in this thread. I understand that this plugin is still in development, but when are you planning to release it to the general public?
  20. Try the beginner tutorials here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/forum/20-beginner-tutorials/
  21. Rainbow fills a selection with a rainbow gradient. Also worth looking at: Gradient.
  22. Nice range of styles! I particularly like the 'ActiveBuddy' sig. Very polished.
  23. The issue of pressure sensitivity has been raised many times. So much so that it appears in the Popular Feature Requests. Rest assured it is not an issue with your system or tablet
  24. Hi chha, welcome ot the forum! Following on from the advice Midora gave you..., Click and hold the left mouse button down to move the fixed size selection area around RE: selection sizing - the selection is always an integer number of pixels in size. The reason that you may not be able to cast a selection to a particular size with the mouse is probably due to the image zoom factor. Try zooming your image to 100%. At this size one pixel in the image exactly fills one pixel on your monitor. You should then have pixel perfect control of the mouse and the selection size.
  25. Chinese is provided as one of the nine default languages in Paint.NET. Therefore there is no need for a separate translation. Go to the Utilities menu and you'll find a language sub-menu. From there you can select the language of your choice.
