  1. HOT TIP: Cast an elliptical selection with the left mouse + right mouse to position it while the shape is still being actively dragged out (i.e. hold both mouse keys down). This works with the other selection shapes as well. Once you get used to using this mouse combination you'll wonder how you ever did without it
  2. If you are making a banner, then make one. That is what artists do. It has been pointed out that images cannot carry URLs so it is the job of the web guy to add the URL to your finished image within the HTML (or whatever) code that makes up the web page. If the company has hired you to add images and URLs to their website you have no right claiming you can do so or touching their code without at least a basic knowledge of HTML.
  3. I hesitate to promote my own book, but it does have exhaustive coverage of the whole Paint.NET experience. Tools, the User Interface (UI), Effects and everything else you need to know is explained in great detail. If the online Paint.NET documentation (linked above) does not help you my book might. There is a link in my signature, or have a look at the thread here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/25384-mastering-paintnet-ebook/
  4. A2 paper size: 23.4 x 16.5 in Print Resolution: 300 DPI Size in Pixels: 23.4 x 300 = 7020 16.5 x 300 = 4950 Now you can work out your memory requirements here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/8606-out-of-memory-to-loadedit-an-image-read-this-first/ Roughly 138mb x (number or layers +2). Huge.
  5. Try downloading and running the System File Checker (SFC) tool from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
  6. Here's the sort of thing I am doing... I run a small blur over the raindrops to finish. I like how the effect creates the refraction of the buildings in the bottom of the lower drops. Not perhaps a perfect reflection, but it creates a perfect illusion of a reflection.
  7. Hi TripleAceS, welcome to the forum. You probably have a hardware issue (failing HDD or bad memory). Please post the contents of the crash log here so we can diagnose it further.
  8. CD is for a client - so I won't be able to post it until it is released. I'll PM you a sample of the image ClipWarp helped create.
  9. I'm creating a CD cover for someone and I wanted to add some raindrops (I did so thanks to Yellowman's excellent recent tutorial). Clipwarp was perfect for refracting the original photo layer in the raindrops. Thanks Red
  10. I find lowering the Primary color transparency to 2 or 3 easier than Red Ochres recommended 50. This makes the Eraser tool into a very soft erasing brush. Multiple passes are usually required to completely erase something hence you have finer control.
  11. You're talking about MS Paint which comes with Windows. Its very different from Paint.NET.
  12. You've provided some good info. That helps us help you. It sounds like you have tried the logical stuff, so the problem is more difficult than that to resolve. Don't worry though! Go and read this thread Installation Issues Thread. Read all of it then revisit the section that refers to the Windows Installer Cleanup tool. That's what you need to use to remove all traces of the existing installation. Then download a brand new copy of Paint.NET and install that (note item 8 in the troubleshooting thread). Please post back here if you have further difficulties. Good luck !
  13. Using the Magic Wand in combination with the Shift key selects all the pixels in a layer that satisfies the Tolerance (i.e. Global mode of selection instead of the default Contiguous mode). It sounds to me like you would actually be better recoloring using the Recolor tool
  14. Make the button a rounded rectangle instead of a circular one. It will fit your text better and minimize the size of the corners which are off the button, but still clickable.
  15. Very nice tutorial Thanks Yellowman!
  16. Not sure why this was in the Off-Topic section. It looks like a Paint.NET question to me. <Moved to Paint.NET Discussion & Questions>
  17. The font will remain selected for the duration of your Paint.NET session, or until you change it. After that, no - excepting your ability to id the font by eye. This is the reason I recommend placing the font name, size and formatting options in the layer name A layer name like Header Text @ Arial 33 Bold leaves you in no doubt how to recreate the text. This thread is old, so I'll lock it. If you have further questions, please start a new thread.
  18. I omitted to say that @Cookies plugin Lightning can be used to create a halo.
  19. This tutorial should be all you need: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12215-how-to-wrapped-glowy-line-from-my-joker-sig/
  20. Alt[C,R] then Enter or Right Arrow opens the Render submenu. The up/down arrows will highlight the entries within the submenu. There are key combinations like this for all the menus.
  21. Another forum user raised the Amazon Print on Demand service. I'll look into it and see if my book can be signed up or printed in this way.
  22. Thanks TechnoRobbo - I think my code is significantly more flawed than that. I create a GDI brush for each pixel and other foolish things.... But we're off-topic...
  23. Thermal Heat Map melts your brain because it's so slow.
