  1. Yup. Pretty much. Paint.net approximates the print size in the resize dialog based on the image size (pixels) and the stated resolution (px/inch or px/cm). Up the resolution to 300px/inch and set the print size in inches (you might wish to deselect the Maintain Aspect checkbox). The pixel sizes should be calculated automatically. Of course you can reverse this and set the pixels size then the resolution in order to figure out the print size.
  2. I have a feeling ASH posted it a long, long time ago. Here's what it might look like on a black background.
  3. Recommend you choose another name. We already have two plugins named "Color to Alpha" Please advise where the effect is found. I have very full menus and can't seem to locate it.
  4. Some things to check: 1. Check that the Target Framework is set to 3.5. It should be. Find this under Project > Project Properties > Application tab. This causes plugins to fail to show up in the menus. 2. Versioning. If you're saving under different filenames then the old versions will remain discoverable by paint.net @ startup. Delete the old *.dll in between restarts or see next point. 3. Build event - I'm not sure if you're overwriting the old *.dll in the pdn directory. Here's my build event command line which manages it automatically copy "$(TargetFileName)" "C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects" /y
  5. 6" x 4" x 300DPI = an image 1800 x 1200 pixels in size. Start with a canvas this size.
  6. It's a surprisingly simple technique.... 1. New layer. 2. Create a large circular opaque to transparent gradient in the color you want. 3. Select All the layer. 4. Use the Move tool to squash it into a thin line. 5. Blur to your liking.
  7. Hey Haddin! Welcome! 1. This plugin should do the job: Composition Tool 2. Add new layer using this icon at the foot of the Layers Window :AddNewLayer: Move this new layer to the bottom of the stack using the Down arrow. Click on the new layer in the Layers Window to make it active (i.e. a blue highlight) then use the Paint Bucket tool to flood the layer with a color. 3. Try this plugin: Multi Color Gradient 4. Zoom in and try the Eraser You can specify the size of the eraser in the Tool Bar. 5. The list of plugins is called the Plugin Index. find a link to the list, and extended versions which are downloadable, in my signature.
  8. It's called Bevel Selection Make a selection of the letters first, then run the effect.
  9. Check out these links: This is midora's PropertyBased Effect template - it should help you figure out IndirectUI: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/26516-propertybasedeffect-template-using-indirectui/ RE: Validation. There is this excellent guide to IndirectUI 'rules' by Simon Brown: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22046-tutorial-how-to-use-indirectui-rules/
  10. You reopen pdn when your system is overwhelmed. I'm sorry, but this seems crazy to me as well. David and Rick gave you the benefit of their opinion, and you bit back. I'm sorry if you felt somehow threatened when David recommended a change in your workflow. He made that comment with you in mind after all. He's a professional. So is Rick. These guys know what they're talking about. Rick in particular takes data integrity VERY seriously. To opine that he doesn't care about this is just ludicrous. Take a step back and realize what you've been given here. An awesome FREE image editor created largely by one very talented guy. If he says the requested 'feature' is not going to happen then accept it. "I like to drive everywhere in reverse" "What's the problem?" "I can't read the road signs - can they be printed backwards?"
  11. I think the 'eyes' are a photographic artifact. A reflection or echo from the overly bright deer eye reflections. That's why there is a doubled version of them. It's yet another 'echo'. I don't think there is any hope of recovering anything more from the image. There really is nothing there but uninterrupted darkness as huddini's brightened version shows.
  12. Can't see the image, but from what you're describing I would have a look at @BoltBait's Bevel Selection plugin. This should do both the highlight and the embossing. Then try this plugin Drop Shadow for the shadow effect. Drop Shadow requires that the text be on it's own transparent layer. Bevel Selection requires the text be selected prior to running the effect.
  13. It appears to be the quality setting in the JPG Save dialog. It looks like it is set so low that the image is posterized. Turn it up to or near 100%
  14. My mistake! I thought the image already comprised a gradient. I thought the request was to change one of the hues. Apologies
  15. Good luck! Feel free to post other questions and queries here if you get stuck.
  16. Visual Studio. There is a plugin template and guide here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/25828-help-needed-using-visual-studio-instead-of-codelab-for-developing/?p=384180
  17. Use the Recolor Tool See: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/27224-change-a-color-of-one-item-in-a-photo/
  18. Please post a "before" image and an "after" image so we can see the effect. What file format are you loading as, and what type are you saving to?
  19. You didn't waste our time. I'm just sorry we cannot provide more help - but it seems the issue is not due to paint.net. If you manage to find a solution to your Vista woes please try and reinstall v3.5.11. It should work.
  20. What version of paint.net are you trying to install? 3.5.11 should work. The Alpha version of 4.0 will NOT install on Vista: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/27530-reminder-paintnet-40-will-require-windows-7/
  21. Hello and welcome to the forum CocoaDiva. Do you mean watermark lines? If you do, then I must point out that watermarks are usually placed on an image to stop you reusing it. You can sometimes pay a royalty to the artist to get a watermark free image. We will not help you remove copyright or royalty watermarks. This is only fair to the artist. If this is not the case, then please post a link to the image so we can see what you're trying to remove.
  22. Yes. If there is nothing stated, you can assume that there are no restrictions on use.
