  1. Not only the line tool, all the new shapes in 4.0 can have these outline styles applied.
  2. User was last active in August 2007 - so I don't think the images will be making a comeback. If I get time this weekend I'll attach some new images.' Edit: Done. Should be enough to get started with the technique.
  3. Are you sure the background is transparent? Remember JPG's DO NOT support transparency PNGs do. Feel free to upload both images and post the links here if you want us to have a look at what's going on.
  4. I mostly use www.daFont.com to find new fonts. Once loaded into your system they become usable from inside Paint.NET just like any other font. Use the TEXT tool to control the size - and as JulioCoolio said - place the larger letter on it's own layer. As the font letters are hollow you should be able to fill them with the Paint Bucket
  5. I like the shape of the second one. The non-uniform letters give it a comic/fun/relaxed style. The other fonts are rigid by comparison. Personally I dislike the rainbow coloring. It's too busy. I'd pick just a couple of colors - perhaps the Z in a disparate color to make it stand out from the rest and make it a shade larger than the other letters. (All this is just my opinion of course. You're the designer & owner I recently closed my web design business - so perhaps my ideas are not very popular )
  6. I can forsee issues ensuring both lists/palettes are the same size. Hashset is restricted to unique set of entries - it might be worth a look to avoid color duplication(s) you posted about earlier.
  7. With all due respect - that's Microsoft's logo. It even has the TM and R to denote trademarks. Do you have permission to use and change this logo? (read this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/legal/IntellectualProperty/Trademarks/Usage/Net.aspx ) If you can honestly answer yes to the last question, here's how you can alter it. 1. Open the transparent version. 2. New Layer :AddNewLayer: 3. Fill the new layer with black (left click in the layer). 4. Move layer down below the original logo layer with the down arrow 4.5 Activate the logo layer by clicking on it in the Layers Window. 5. Adjustments > Black and White (or Ctrl + Shift + G) 6. Adjustments > Invert Colors (or Ctrl + Shift + I) 7. Adjustments > Brightness and Contrast (or Ctrl + Shift + T). Set both sliders to 38 or whatever you like. That finishes the image. Hide the solid black layer and save as a PNG if you want a logo on transparency. Flatten and save if you want to keep the black background, or use the paint bucket to change the color to a different one prior to saving.
  8. Hi and welcome! Without seeing the exact image, it's a bit of a guess. What happens if you try Adjustments > Black and White? Or Adjustments > Invert Colors?
  9. That's a design issue. You want a font that is the same flavor as your business. Use something with a freehand look for a less formal look. Use a serif font to exude security and authority (like a bank). San-Serif if you want a clean crisp look (BoltBait quite likes Verdana). I'd argue that the font you use on your website should gel nicely with your logo and vice versa. So bear this in mind when deciding. You can read extensively on the subject of typography here: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/tag/typography/
  10. There are quite a few ways - each has it's merits and devotees Which is best really depends on the source image. Feel free to upload the image and post the link here so we can give you some idea of what will work best.
  11. The pasted image is overwriting the existing image because you're copying the transparent areas onto the same layer as the existing image. If you do the paste into a new layer it won't do this. Another option: 1. Open image with figures in it. 2. Layers menu > Import from file (navigate to the tank image). Does that work?
  12. Always work larger then downsize by an even multiple of 2 (1/2, 1/4, 1/8 size). That way you get the clearest image following the resize. Making images smaller is infinitely easier than trying to enlarge an image and dealing with the jagged edges that result. For e.g. enlarge your 800 x 300 canvas by 400% . Yucky, yes? My general process for website images: 1. Make the image 2x or 4x larger than that desired for the final image. 2. Save it as a PDN image (vs. re-editing). Put the word "Master" in the file name so you can ID it easily 3. Resize the image to your final dimensions. Remember to use an even multiple of 2 as the reduction factor. 4. If the image is slightly blurry following the resize, try using Effect > Photo > Sharpen with a value of 1 to sharpen it up again. 5. Use Save As... to save it to a different file name and format. If you're trying to optimize the file size for minimum size (always a good idea) then try using the OptiPNG plugin to squish it further than the standard PNG format.
  13. If you prick your finger don't to sleep for 100 years or something? I'll be very careful - I don't wish to be woken by a man kissing me <prickless pin>
  14. .... however if you continue to use the best free image editor then I advise you to WORK LARGE. Really large. Let's say you want your logo to be the size of a 6" x 4" photograph when printed at high quality (300DPI). In order to do this your starting canvas should be 6" x 300 DPI = 1800 pixels by 4" x 300DPI = 1200 pixels. You can always downsize for smaller versions (business cards, letterheads, etc...,) Keep one perfect master copy in PDN format at full size in case you need to edit the logo at a later stage.
  15. Try pasting the copied image into a new layer. Here's how: 1. Open both images. 2. On the person image press Ctrl + A (Select All) and Ctrl + C (Copy). 3. Go to the second image and create new layer with this icon in the Layers Window :AddNewLayer: 4. Press Ctrl + V to paste the copied image into this new layer.
  16. Stork Nightmare is very.... Pink Floyd. Reminds me of those hammers in The Wall
  17. Felix: I'm going to split your posts out of the CodeLab thread. I suspect this might be why you've not got a response I'll dump these into their own thread and see if we can scare up a few more responses.
  18. Have you seen this thread: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/692-install-update-or-uninstall-trouble-read-this/ Read through the entire thread then return to the second post which mentions the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. That should take care of the remains of 3.5.10 for you. Q: have you tried installing 3.5.11 over the top of 3.5.10? The later version automatically handles the removal of the former version
  19. 8 bit means a data value containing 8 digits of binary data. In binary this means a number from 00000000 to 11111111 which in decimal is a range from 0 to 255. An 8 bit color depth can contain one of 256 colors usually selcted from a palette. 8 bit when applied to color channels like RGBA means each one can hold a value of 0 to 255. Or 4 x 8 bit = 32 bit RGBA. This is how paint.net stores colors. 16 bit has twice as many binary digits and can store decimal numbers up to approx 64000. The number of bits does not correlate to the same number of colors. Nor does the number of bits have anything to do with the canvas size.
  20. Scriptlab has some limitations. It runs only Effect and Adjustments - not the other tools, so you can't resize an image or crop for example. There is a thread for sharing scripts here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/8270-sharing-scriptlab-scripts-sls/
  21. Neat entry Mottoman! Congratulations on the win. Congratulations also to Barbieq25 and Yellowman. Thanks as always Daniels
  22. Hi Brandy! Welcome to the forum Have a look through the Plugin Index (there's a link to it in my signature). In the downloadable PDF version you'll find all the plugins listed by name with additional info like where they appear in the menus. This may help you identify the missing plugin. It may be useful to know that plugins are listed in the menus in alphabetical order. This might help narrow your search. Have you any idea what the missing menu entry was?
