  1. I came. I read. I split (the topic into it's own thread) I suggest you get used to hitting Enter or the Finish button. Many new tools (Shapes et al) use it.
  2. Thank you Pixey & Seerose. Pixey - you're right. Most of BoltBait's new effects are incorrectly linked. After I completely missed them last month too. Sorry BoltBait. I blame Excel's auto-increment Here are the corrected links Bevel Object - @BoltBait. Works just like BoltBait's Bevel Selection; simulates depth by adding an emboss type highlight and shadowing to an object. Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack Feather Object - @BoltBait. Feathers or fades an objects edge. Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack Inner Shadow - @BoltBait. Projects a shadow from the object's edge inwards or away from the transparent surrounding pixels. Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack Outline Object - @BoltBait. Outlines an object by wrapping it in a customized edge. Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack And the pack link: Object Tools - @BoltBait. A mini pack of effects which work on objects (groups of pixels with surrounding transparency). Bevel Object, Feather Object, Inner Shadow, Outline Object, Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack
  3. April Update A swag of new plugins this month. There's something for everyone Alt to LayerSaver - @Martin Osieka. ***********STILL IN DEVELOPMENT ******** Saves layers ans individual files in PNG, BMP, GIF or JPEG format. Bevel Object - @BoltBait. Works just like BoltBait's Bevel Selection; simulates depth by adding an emboss type highlight and shadowing to an object. Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack CSV (comma separated values) Filetype - @Ego Eram Reputo. Saves the image as a text file containing the pixel RGBA information in numeric format. Cuboids - @Red ochre. Turns an image into rectangular areas with the illusion of depth. The effect is adjustable between simple pixelating and one point perspective images resembling tower blocks. Feather Object - @BoltBait. Feathers or fades an objects edge. Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack ImAGIF - @midora. ***********STILL IN DEVELOPMENT ******** Loads and saves animated gif files. Inner Shadow - @BoltBait. Projects a shadow from the object's edge inwards or away from the transparent surrounding pixels. Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack Lines/Grid - @ReMake. Creates vertical/horizontal lines or grids. Line width and coloring options. Also available in Russian. Neon Edges - @ReMake. Simulated neon glow around the edges in an image. Options: line thickness, glow intensity, hue & saturation. Object Tools - @BoltBait. A mini pack of effects which work on objects (groups of pixels with surrounding transparency). Bevel Object, Feather Object, Inner Shadow, Outline Object, Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack Outline Object - @BoltBait. Outlines an object by wrapping it in a customized edge. Part of BoltBait's Plugin Pack PNG Sprite Matrix - @TechnoRobbo. Takes all visible layers in a PDN image and arranges them into a Matrix as close to equal height and width as possible. Hidden Layers are ignored. Usage: File > Save As > Sprite Matrix (*.png). TinyPNG - @toe_head2001. Save filetype plugin that uses the TinyPNG service to compress images. TinyPNG is a lossy compression system which maintains transparency and most visual quality. Note: An active internet connect is required. The plugin will send your image to a third party service (TinyPNG), and download the compressed version. You should read TinyPNG's Terms of Service, and you need to sign up for your own API key. TR's iPollock - @TechnoRobbo. Abstract art generator inspired by the works of Jackson Pollock (think: paint drips, dribbles and splashes).
  4. I'm with you on this Skully. The use of external tools should be severely limited or forbidden IMHO. Surely the purpose of the competition is to show off your talents using our favorite image editor?
  5. Ah yes. Good point. Layers > Import from File automatically resizes the original to accommodate the new image (if it's larger than the original). Try this instead: 1. Open both images simultaneously 2. Click on the second image (the one you wish to import) in the Image list (i.e. the thumbnail in the filmstrip across the top of the Menu Bar). 3. Press Ctrl + A (Select All). 4. Press Ctrl + C (Copy) 5. Click on the black photo thumbnail in the Image List. 6. Press Ctrl + Shift + V (Paste into new layer). 7. When the option pops up - select "Keep canvas size"
  6. Hi GamingHazard! Welcome to the forum You have probably pasted the second image directly onto the first. This means that the transparent areas have been pasted over the existing image. You need to use layers. Then the transparent areas in the upper layer will allow the black photo in the lower layer to show through. Reopen your black photo and used Layers > Import from file to get the second image into a layer above the first. Flatten (Ctrl + Shift + F) and Save As.... Don't use Save! That will overwrite your original image. Permanently.
  7. Updated to add Midora's suggestion above. File size shows the correct file size. @Midora: Why not add IsReflexive to your filetype template?
  8. Thanks TR! Feel free to borrow at will. I've completely FAILED to thank both you and Red Ochre for your help in testing this plugin. I really do appreciate the assistance.
  9. This little filetype plugin is one for all you coders out there It saves the image as a text file containing the pixel RGBA information in numeric format. Wha...? It takes pixel data, like in this tiny image and saves it to a text file like this 255179017255,255235015255,215255015255,155255015255,095255015255,035255015255, 255143143255,255192139255,255255139255,192255139255,139255139255,139255192255, 130035255255,236030255255,255030161255,255030049255,255124030255,255236030255, Numeric formats include decimal, hex (uppercase and lowercase) and binary. The delimiters can be comma, period or space. The pixels data has several formats (RGB, RGBA, BGR, BGRA....,). If anyone has a specific need of an unsupported sequence let me know and I'll consider it. The individual color channels can also be separated (the specified delimiter is placed between them). RGB + comma + uppercase hex + line feeds at end of row: FFB311,FFEB0F,D7FF0F,9BFF0F,5FFF0F,23FF0F, FF8F8F,FFC08B,FFFF8B,C0FF8B,8BFF8B,8BFFC0, 8223FF,EC1EFF,FF1EA1,FF1E31,FF7C1E,FFEC1E, BGRA + period + lowercase hex + no line feeds + separate color channels: 11.b3.ff.ff.0f.eb.ff.ff.0f.ff.d7.ff.0f.ff.9b.ff.0f.ff.5f.ff.0f.ff.23.ff.8f.8f.ff.ff.8b.c0.ff.ff.8b.ff.ff.ff.8b.ff.c0.ff.8b.ff.8b.ff.c0.ff.8b.ff.ff.23.82.ff.ff.1e.ec.ff.a1.1e.ff.ff.31.1e.ff.ff.1e.7c.ff.ff.1e.ec.ff.ff. This plugin will save only. There is no load. Installation: To install the plugin, download my Plugin Pack and unzip it. Run the *.exe installer (written by BoltBait). Restart paint.net. Usage: The filetype shows up in the Save As... dialog. I wrote this to extract some custom 256 item palettes from an image which was (you guessed it) 256 pixels high. I hope you find it useful. Original version dated 23 March 2015 downloaded 217 times
  10. These plugins spring to mind Alpha Transform and Alpha Threshold. I'm sure there are many more which will do the job just as well.
  11. You're probably using an older version of Feather. Hover your mouse over the Feather entry in the menu and it will show the file (dll) name in a tool tip. Tell us what that filename is and we might be able to provide a solution. This should be posted in the Feather thread (where you downloaded it from). I'll sort that out for you by merging this thread - when I get time!
  12. Correct, there is no blur brush. Instead use the built-in effect Effects > Blurs > Gaussian Blur (there are other blurs in this sub menu which you could try).
  13. Are you looking for a White Balance? Try this plugin White Balance or White point Correction. Other than that you can use Adjustments > Curves or Adjustments > Levels.
  14. Nothing will show up if you put it anywhere else. The two files MUST be in the \Filetypes\ folder. Even when correctly installed you won't find it in the paint.net menus. Filetype plugins only show as new extensions in the Load/Save dialogs (plus their own dialog - if required). This is how Filetype plugins work. You CANNOT change a Filetype plugin to an Effect-type by changing the location of installation.
  15. @Johnny - are you looking for the plugin? As a filetype it only shows up in the load/save dialog as a new extension. There is no paint.net menu entry.
  16. There are two plugins which will do this. Install either of these: Tom Jackson's Fire BoltBait's Flames Setup: 1. Create a new image. 2. Fill the layer with black. 3. Use the text tool to render a large white text of your choice on the black background. 4. Blur the text using Effects > Blurs > Gaussian Blur. You want to blur the edges, but not so much as to lose the overall shape of the characters. 5. Run Effects > Distort > Dents at these settings 6. Run whichever Fire plugin you installed & play with the settings. Once you get the hang of it - combining several layers of flame-text will enhance the effect (here I used blend = Screen and opacity of 184 on the upper of two flamed layers). If you keep running the Dents Effect with some different settings you can come up with some very realistic flames. Here's a manual method: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12180-how-to-start-a-fire-with-paintnet/
  17. Try adjusting the resolution. Image > Resize > Resolution. You'll need to approximately double whatever is in there, so that the image width (in pixels) / new resolution = desired inch width. Say your image is 1200px wide and you want to print it so that the image is 6 inches wide..... 1200px / 6inches = 200resolution
  18. Welcome back Ryan! Go to the first post in this thread. Click the Edit link at the foot of the first post. The editing window will appear. At the bottom of the editing window click the button Use Full Editor. The Full Editor shows the thread title in a text box. Simply overwrite it. Don't forget to save your modifications.
  19. This plugin has all you need CodeLab. You'll need a working knowledge of C# to write plugins with it unless you make extensive use of the Interface designer and built in effect-chaining. Helpful tutorials can be found here http://www.boltbait.com/pdn/CodeLab/
  20. Moved to the Tutorial Graveyard.
  21. The icon you're seeing is the point that you've clicked on. In PDN4 this click-point is relocatable. You can drag it around to see what would have happened if you'd clicked a different location. While this icon is active, the operation being performed is 'unfinished' - it can be modified. Press the Finish button or hit the Enter key to commit the operation (it becomes 'finished'). In PDN3.5x a click with the Paint Bucket just did a fill based on the click point. If you wanted to modify the tolerance, you had to undo, adjust the tolerance and re-click. Now you have options to modify Tolerance and Click-point while the fill operation is still actively being performed. No undo is required anymore..
  22. Try activating the layer by clicking on it in the Layers Window, then Ctrl + A to select all the layer, and M to activate the Move tool. Drag the nubs to resize.
  23. People are fine. That amount of skin is not.
