The ball must not be white (light yellow) for the conditional hue saturation (fade vertical). Then Polar transformation. I duplicate the layer to have a symmetry. Very very very late answer to @Frontcannon New option: Delete background:

Press Ctrl+R for image resize. You could uncheck Maintain aspect ratio;change the résolution and DPI (per inch or centimeter), etc. The quality is better when you reduce the image.
