midora
'What's It?' Tools Effect Plugin Summary This Paint.NET effect plugin allows you to identify files by looking for a file type specific signature in the file content. If Paint.NET fails to open an image then you may check with this tool if the file extension is wrong and correct it. Warning: If a file can be identified by the plugin then this does not mean that the file can be loaded by a Paint.NET native or plugin file type. The file may be corrupt or use an unsupported sub format. If you are missing a specific file type or get a wrong identification just tell and we will see what can be done. Rick Brewster
WhatIsIt needs an update to work with 5.0. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Panchdara
Many thanks Rick. I just thought I'd bring it to attention as the message states that "A required update is available". Working thru the new v5.0 Thank you!
Rick Brewster
@midora, are you planning to release an updated version for 5.0? I'd rather tag the old version as "incompatible" instead of "unstable". midora
Hi Rick, there are several tool plugins which do not expect that a dummy token is needed. There is no ETA because the current rules require to use the latest interfaces and environments. That's just too much work in the moment. Rick Brewster
Let me see what I can come up with... Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster
Alright, I'm not going to enforce the non-null token requirement for classic effects. This will give you time to update your tools and build. Eventually I'll be deprecating classic effects, so you will need to update them to be BitmapEffects (or GpuEffects, if appropriate), but I don't have a concrete timeframe for this. Unlikely to happen in 2023, in other words. "Deprecate" in this case means that already-compiled classic effects will still continue to work, but you won't be able to compile them anymore. The next 5.0 build will remove the block on WhatIsIt and LookAtIt, and they should work as they did before. net painter
@midora Thank you so, so much, even 9 years later this really helped me!! It's like the most perfect, specific-to-what-I-needed tool/plugin! Especially since there is a glitch in paint.net, I tried to save a photo as a png, but I think it saved as a png with a .pdn file extension. I really thought I would have to make the whole file over again !!🥹 You're a genius, thank you for the work you do!!!
toe_head2001
32 minutes ago, net painter said: I tried to save a photo as a png, but I think it saved as a png with a .pdn file extension. This will happen if you manually change the file extension in the Save dialog, without actually choosing the format from the dropdown. 2 Quote (September 25th, 2023) Sorry about any broken images in my posts.
