Red ochre
Hello RedBeard, welcome! Nice to see good drawing skills to start with and good work in PDN enhancing the image too. Familiar Vinyl, - I never gave up on it - I like the scratches! - and what a shame all that space for album art has disappeared. Logo looks good too - look forward to seeing more. 1 Quote Red ochre Plugin pack.............. I had a lot of fun making the Vinyl logo. If the shelves at Best Buy are any indication, Vinyl is actually making quite a comeback! barbieq25
Very nice work so far. I love the way you used the elements in the coat of arms to suit your interests. Very cleverly & well done. I really like your sig too. The jagginess could be overcome by using a larger canvas - say 4 times the finished size & using Feather, Anti-Alias Assistant or Gaussian Blur at low value (2?). When it is all done, reduce the image to what you want & save it as a .PNG as well as the .PDN. Png is lossless so it will be clearer & if you want to change or reuse your image you have the working file too. Great to have you on board & I am looking forward to seeing more from you. 1 Quote Knowledge is no burden to carry. Thank you so much for the advice, barbieq! I will definitely use it in future endeavors! I appreciate having an artist of your caliber take the time to stop by and give some instruction. It means a lot to me! 2 Quote My Gallery

HELEN
I agree with what has already been said. The vinyl record looks really nifty. It brings me back to 1990 when I was in kindergarten. My teacher would put in a record and play a song during nap time. I can hum the melody to it, but I've forgotten the words. RoboCop is transformed amazingly in PDN. You can draw really well, too. The coat of arms image is stunning. The way the letters seem to dissolve at some areas is superb. RedBeard
@ nitenurse, dug and Helen: Thank you guys for the kind words, and thanks for taking the time to stop by. I feel like I'm getting better at using PDN every day, following as many tutorials as I possibly can. I can't believe I didn't discover this program and its community sooner. Many thanks to all the artisans on here who have put in so much time and effort into educating noobs like me! Quote My Gallery
RedBeard
Loving the vinyl. 6 Music on the BBC are having an all vinyl day on Jan 1st http://www.bbc.co.uk...dules/2012/01/0 ... I don't know if vinyl will ever make a come-back, but then again I don't think it's ever gone away ? Awesome name for the band RoboCop ... wow. Both versions are impressive whether it's night or day ... Mac Murcada ... love the intensity and glow of it. Great font choice on the RedBeard part. A great start to your gallery and hope to see lots more in here Thank you, Welsh! I'm pretty partial to the Bleeding Cowboys font. It just has such a mean look to it! The drummer for The Joy Kills is a pretty good friend of mine. I had only been using Paint.NET for about two weeks when he asked me to design the logo for his band. A more experienced user probably could have come up with a much more realistic result, but I'm happy with what I was able to render, and apparently, so is the band! barbieq25
Very nice work with the sword. Great choice of background too. Isn't it great when you can combine a couple of tutes? HELEN
Awesome sword! The metal is a nice, shiny color. The fire goes well with it, too. RedBeard
Great job on the sword, it's great how you've run with the tut' and put your own spin on it. Excellent job on the hilt Thank you, Welsh! That means a lot to me! It was a great deal of work for me, but the payoff at the end was well worth it! I'm working on my composition as well as my rendering, and I still have a lot to learn. But, thanks to the hard work all of you more experienced users have put into your invaluable tutorials, I feel like I'm making great strides. delpart
Ditto on lots to learn mate. At least you have some raw talent in your hands to draw from (pun intended.) Amazing work on the RoboCop in its original form. PDN helped transform it, but kudos on the original. And simply stunning work on the sword. Getting true metal glints without ray tracing of environmental things is harder to accomplish but that's the rub ... and why there are about a million different ways and dozen of program to composite an image. Nice arms work as well. Had you not pointed out the details it would have been missed regarding those subtleties. Especially in regards to the name. Thanks for sharing. Goonfella
I like the vinyl record. Looks pretty realistic to me. You`ve done a great job with Oma`s sword tut. I like the way you`ve included the fire reflection on the blade. Nice touch and shows you have a good eye for detail. I'm pretty happy with the way the sword turned out, even if the metal glints aren't entirely accurate. The RoboCop picture is part of a book featuring my artwork that I'm in the process of putting together for my teenage son. The added effects afforded in Paint.NET will take each picture to a phenomenally higher level than I could ever achieve through strictly traditional means. This program has really given me a shot in the arm as far as drawing goes. I originally designed the Coat of Arms as a possible first tattoo. I play bass in a metal band and wanted something that reflected not only my lineage, but my musical bent as well, so I decided to combine the two. I'll admit, probably only the most eagle-eyed observer would pick up on the musical references, but that's okay. I know they're there. Thanks for stopping by. Thank you for your recognition on the vinyl. It truly was my first serious project on Paint.NET, and I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out. I was actually surprised at just how intuitive this program really is, making it far less frustrating to render the vinyl than it could have been with an inferior program. Thanks for stopping by, Goonfella! Quote My Gallery
