'This Image Type is Not Recognised and Cannot Be Opened'

Recommended Posts

Was working on a piece for quite some time... as everyone does, I saved my piece as I was finishing up.  A PDNSAVE file was created on my desktop as always, however whenever I try to open this on Paint.net it fails to open and displays the message, 'this image type is not recognised and cannot be opened'.

I have got no idea how to fix this -- has anyone got any ideas?

(and yes, my paint.net is also updated to the latest version)

Check the full file extension.

Is usually hidden unless you've altered the folder/file view settings but its not impossible that instead of saving it as .pdn you've saved it as .pdn.jpg or something like that when using the Save As option.

Hope it is as simple as that.

Did you try opening PDN and looking in > File > open recent?  It may still be there.

If not, try using What's It to see it's format.

Are you trying to open the PDN/SAVE file?  That's not your image file that you saved. I think it's an empty file.

Do what Pixey suggests to find your actual image file. I'm assuming you don't remember what folder you saved it to.
