Meridiano
Simply cannot open/save DDS files, does paint.net work with them? Everyone says "yes" but it's "no" fo me. Open - https://i.imgur.com/YLhAvy9.png Save - https://i.imgur.com/0r1fbuB.png As you see, there is no DDS filetype at all.
Pixey
@Meridiano Welcome to Paint.net Have you downloaded the correct Plugin? If not, it can be found here: Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. Meridiano
The plugin you said works with DDS too, but it needs to rename .dds -> .dds2. I thought paint.net supports DDS "out-of-box". I was wrong?

Did you download Paint.net from the website here? Meridiano
Yes. Just now I've uninstalled paint.net completely and then install it again from this site (as usual). And no DDS option on Open/Save. However, I've recompiled this plugin (DDS FileType Plus) and now it is replacing the original missing FileType. I can work with DDS again, this is good, but the loss of original feature is really mysterious. Well, thank you in any case) Edited June 16, 2018 by Meridiano
Pixey
You are Welcome - I'm glad that Plugin worked for you. Perhaps someone else on the forum can explain why you can't see the DDS after you downloaded PDN. Maybe it's the system you are using? Or .............. Gremlins ? Rick Brewster
Paint.NET does support DDS but it's out-of-date, hence the plugin. I'm planning on upgrading the built-in functionality sometime this year, and hopefully the plugin will no longer be necessary. I wonder if the string has been missed from the translation? @Meridiano what language have you set pdn to? Did you install a 3rd party language pack? ReMake
@Meridiano, show a screenshot of the contents of your paint.net installation folder, please. Did you remove other language packs yourself, manually?

No, I didn't. I didn't touch the folder at all except copying that DDS plugin.
ReMake
In my paint.net v4.0.21 the dds extension is present by default. I think you should reinstall paint.net, previously clearing all its tracks.

Where paint.net keeps its tracks? I've already delete it with Reg Organizer (no traces in "Program Files" folder) and install again. No difference. Rick Brewster
Did you try looking in Settings -> Plugin Load Errors? I'm not sure if anything will be there, but it's worth a look Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
