  1. The Recolor tool has a tolerance adjustment that can compensate somewhat for variations in the original color. The Magic Wand also has a tolerance adjustment in the toolbar. Magic Wand is a selection tool, Recolor is not.
  2. The best way to do this will vary depending on the image that you are working with. If you can post the actual image, it will help towards getting the best suggestions. Usually, for this type of thing I will use the Grim Color Reaper plugin effect. Alpha Mask is also commonly used. Clicking on the logo's background while holding down the Shift key, then pressing the Delete key works. It usually gives an inferior result, though.
  3. The Recolor tool works pretty well for this. Use the Color Picker tool (Eyedropper icon) first. Right-click the blue, then left-click the orange to set your secondary and primary colors. Then use the Recolor tool with left mouse button down.
  4. Depending on the specifics of the logo image, it may be better to use the recolor tool on the original without the use of the Magic Wand tool. There may be other ways to do this. If you can post the actual image that you are working on it will help towards getting the best suggestions.
  5. Many people would like to be able to reset the default Save/Save As... filetype. It is deliberate policy for Paint.NET's default save type to be a non-lossy filetype. (JPEG is lossy, PNG is not lossy)
  6. Not possible. Pressing Tab, J is easiest way.
  7. If you can duplicate the result using the file that I gave you, then you have the knowledge and experience to apply the effect to whatever image you choose. If you have any questions, post again, but be more specific in terms of what your questions are.
  8. First click in the Layers window on the layer named Mask. Hold down the Ctrl key and press A, C, then D. Next, hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys and press V. This copies the Mask layer into a new file. Save the new file as VHSRewindMask.png. ==================================== Go back to the original PDN file and click on the "vlcsnap..." layer that's undistorted. Open the Alpha-Displacement effect. Browse... to the VHSRewindMask.png file that you just saved. Put a checkmark in "Displacement on?" and at the bottom tick "Clamped". Set the "X" displacement to 3. Click OK. Now hold down the Ctrl key and press F six times. The layer should now look like the bottom layer. ====================================== Click on Layer 7, apply Gaussian blur at default settings. Move Layer 7 up above the layer that you just applied Alpha-Displacement to and merge it down. Open the panelling effect and adjust the "Move Vertical" to 305 or whatever you prefer.
  9. Always put each element on its own new layer. That way you can delete or edit it later if you need to. Once text has been finalized it can be edited only as image (Pixels).
  10. It looks like Microsoft has pulled the Installer Cleanup Utility. There is a download available here: http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html The three lower download mirrors work, not the top one.
  11. Alpha-Displacement plugin: For the irregular horizontal displacement. Panelling plugin: For the vertical shift. Paintbucket fill - Dark Horizontal and Jitter plugin: For the horizontal scan lines. It's a start, you can refine it further to your liking. PDN File Download
  12. Other possibilities: Have you closed and re-opened Paint.NET after installing the plugin files? Smudge used to be in the Distort sub-menu, it is now in the Tools sub-menu. Have you checked in: Utilities > View Plugin Load Errors
  13. The One-Stop Ribbon Shop! Very nice.
  14. Monica, Please try the following and report back. If you click the top-left icon in the Tools window, then click-and-drag at a diagonal on the canvas, is a rectangular selection is formed? (Be sure that the Selection Mode is set to "Replace")
  15. How many entries can one vote for? Or is that not limited?
  16. Bring the pet in using: Layers > Import from File... (In the top menu.) Then you can position it where you want without having the transparency overwrite the background image.
