Always put your text on transparent layers. When you overlay the text, put each new text overlay on a new layer of its own. If you copy/paste, always paste into a new layer. Don't paste into a layer with pre-existing content.

Line / Curve tool. A line drawn and curve adjusted with right mouse button. Layer duplicated and repositioned with Move Selected Pixels tool and arrow keys - to make parallel outer lines. ======================================== Line / Curve tool set to dotted, curve adjusted to track between previous solid lines. Layer duplicated twice. One layer shifted up and left, the other down and right. ======================================== Some railway brushes might be a better solution. You can make them yourself.

Another option that could give more control would be to use a slightly blurred alpha mask.

Trying to get a correct print size
Sarkut replied to PattiG's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Using the Printer Plus plugin set to zero border size on A4 paper: Your 8x6 - 768x576 pixel size image should be placed in the middle of a 816x1056 canvas for the best hope of having it print at the size that you want on a home computer's printer. (816x1056. 96x8½=816. 11x96=1056) You'll need to get Walmart's photo dept. people to advise you regarding using their printer. To get better clarity of prints, you can set the resolution higher before beginning to make the image, changing resolution after the fact won't provide any benefit. A 300 pixel/inch starting resolution might be a good choice. Image > Resize -
Is a fill from clipboard background technically possible? So that an object could be worked on above a background image of the flattened lower layers loaded into the clipboard, or a prepped layer of guidelines loaded to the clipboard.

If this thread becomes locked, start a new topic in the General Discussion & Questions forum with a link to this thread. What are the pixel dimensions of the 8x6 image and also the pixel dimensions of the 8x12 canvas? (Canvas size should be 8½x11, if that is the paper size you will be printing on.)

"side-by-side configuration is incorrect"
Sarkut replied to mckinlt's topic in Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
64-bit is supported. You might look in the x86 folder to be sure that some installation files didn't go there mistakenly. -

How do I make more text that looks like this?
Sarkut replied to sherifffruitfly's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Here's a good way to cut down the time that this will take: Ask the person, who has asked you to do this, what font it is. If they don't know, send them to Dafont.com . Have them choose a free sans-serif font that they think matches well enough. -
Making a hat in paint.net
Sarkut replied to insaanreturns's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Fez tips: -
Import this layer first. Next, import another image. Layers > Import from File... If it is oversize, the canvas will expand to accommodate it. Let it do so. Make a Rectangle selection around the part of that layer that you want to use. Copy/paste into a new layer. Ctrl + C Ctrl + Shift + V Delete the original oversize layer that you have just copy/pasted from. The selection you copy/pasted should still be selected, and the Move Selected Pixels tool will be active. Re-size using the Move Selected Pixels tool on a corner adjusting nub. Repeat for each additional layer.

How to capture in a circle?
Sarkut replied to aparramoure's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Use the Ellipse Select tool with Shift key down. After making the circular selection, it can be repositioned using the Move Selection tool. It can be re-sized using the Move Selection tool on a corner adjusting nub with the Shift key down. -

Open the color picture in Paint.NET. Duplicate the layer. Make the top layer black-and-white. Adjustments > Black and White Erase the area where you want the blue to show through.
