  1. Thank you @Pixey, @LionsDragon, @lynxster4, & @Seerose. Flowers are always good. Cactus flowers always amaze me. It is such a contradiction. :D

@Pixey, wow! Feel free to use :D

The hardest part is always isolating the flowers. Since this wasn't my image, I really wanted to do it justice. Kiss Cut & Dainty are both from the same flower. Jitter is such a wonderful plugin. After I run the Jitter, I select, copy & paste into a new layer & Drop Shadow & some I delete altogether. Hardest part if to make sure that you are very accurate with your selections.

I was devastated that after 7 years of giving my everything, the company I worked for has decided that I must travel to far-flung places & attend meetings (I find it very difficult to hear as I have a hearing impairment). The company believes it is a 90 minute journey - even Google maps shows that it is 3 hours! Long story short - I felt I had no option but to resign. They gave me 2 weeks & I am at the end of the first week & feel good about leaving now. Half of my class will quit too. I requested they give the new teacher a try. I have a number of really lucrative options...not working 5 days a week anymore either. More time to paint. NET, crochet, garden & kiss my rats & play with the dogs.

  2. Hello @Decipher, welcome to the forum.

If you have a raster image (Paint.NET is raster) that is say 100 x 250 pixels & you try to make it 400 x 1000, it will get pixelated.

If you shrink a raster image down, any unnecessary information will be discarded.

If on the other hand you want to increase the size, new pixel information needs to be created and it does that by its best guesses & therefore you will get a pixelly image & it will depend on how much you increase it by.

Vector images are able to be scaled infinitely but since Paint.NET uses raster, it won't help you much.

In my work I regularly use a canvas that is 4 times the size of what I want the finished product to be. Then I scale it down & the result is beautifully smooth work. The maple leaf that I did is not as smooth as I would like it to be because I broke this rule :(

Try these ideas & let us know how you go.

  3. The stained glass effects are all really wonderful. The "Cheap Plastic Suncatcher" looks clean & very happy. Not at all cheap.

The dragonfly one is really pretty. You have added the most interesting textures to it. I keep thinking his head is missing - maybe I am looking for the big eyes? The colours are perfect & the way you framed it in the diamond shape is spot on. Love, love, love it!

  4. @LionsDragon, I rescued one on the weekend. THey said he was flighty & bitey. They called HIM Lucille! I'd probably bite too. He is a sweet boy who needed medication for a respiratory infection. Now settling nicely & we have called him Felix. He is my 5th boy & I have 7 girls :D

I miss doing my art too & hope to get back to doing some soon. Keep up the lovely work!
