"Error reading file from the media"
Ego Eram Reputo replied to elizabethashley42's topic in Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
In all honesty I think it's your HD. Try saving to a USB stick and see if that is recoverable the next morning. Until you fix this problem I'd get in the habit of making two or three copies of something you're working on. Save them in different locations and on different media (one removeable). Virus scanned recently? I think it unlikely - but it pays to be sure. -
Pleased we could help you cravincolors. Welcome to the forum!

Probably a spam bot Jim. I've just removed the spammy sig. -
Cell Texture plugin (12th Nov 2012 - updated to v1.2)
Ego Eram Reputo replied to davidf's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
Very cool Thanks! -
Deleting files has left some of the Paint.NET installation behind. As you have found, simply deleting files is a poor way of removing an application. That's why the uninstaller is supplied. From here you need to completely remove all traces of the previous installation before reinstalling. Return to the thread here http://forums.getpai...uble-read-this/ and reread post #2. Once you have removed all traces of the previous installation download and install a fresh copy of Paint.NET.

"Error reading file from the media"

Could be any part of the hardware. Doesn't sound like a Paint.NET issue even though it is the PDN files that are corrupted. -
Adding realistic light rays to a photo
Ego Eram Reputo replied to Visual's topic in Distortions and Modifications
Yes I like that better. Have you considered fading the light 'beam' intensity as the beam extends into the room? I.e foreground beam has edges as sharp at the bottom as the top. Shouldn't it be more diffuse at the bottom? BTW: Nice house! -
A mist/cloud effect with some depth
Ego Eram Reputo replied to Visual's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
This is ridiculous. @Visual - you're being overly sensitive. Welshy made a comment and offered an opinion. If you can't handle critique don't post a tutorial (see the Tutorial Posting Guidelines, item #11 ) <locked & moved out of the tutorial section> -

Visual Studio 2005 - Effect Plugin Template
Ego Eram Reputo replied to Sepcot's topic in Plugin Developer's Central
Not as far as I've found. I've made this recommendation in the past (http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/24740-problem-with-loading-custom-effects-to-paintnet-on-windows-7/#entry372860) No one has complained -
Hi there skanitsch, welcome to the forum. Please don't reply to very old threads (this one has been dormant for over a year). If you wish to raise the subject again - please just start another thread. Thanks <closed>

Color and Black and White - The Pleasantville Effect

No need to shout (please don't type all in capitals). You need to alter the Tolerance in the Tool Bar once the Magic Wand is active. -
Adding realistic light rays to a photo

@NN: You live closer to the sun that the rest of us? (I think that given the already bright room, the rays are just a mite too powerful). -
Request: drag to extend selection / fill
Ego Eram Reputo replied to ljensen's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Add multiple selections together by making multiple smaller selections with the Magic Wand tool and simultaneously holding down the Ctrl key (toggles the selection mode to Additive). This is the easiest way to build up a composite selection. When the selection is complete, then fill it in. -
Move Layer properties window?
Ego Eram Reputo replied to Gaelyn's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
It's not going to be locked for necroposting - it's within tolerance. However my tolerance for the tone of Gaelyn's last post is almost at it's limit. Re your suggestion: Too large? Really?? I regularly put a font's name, size and formatting into a layer name. It's my way of recording how I made the text within the layer. I need/desire/like the extra width of the current layers props dialog. -
Request: diagonal selection / fill
Ego Eram Reputo replied to ljensen's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Does this work for you? 1. Make a selection roughly the correct size you need. 2. Activate the Move Selection tool 3. Right click and drag to rotate it. Left click & hold on one of the control nubs to resize the selection outline. -

Adding realistic light rays to a photo
Ego Eram Reputo replied to Visual's topic in Distortions and Modifications
Those light rays do look good. Great job Visual! I'd much favor you placing the text into the tutorial as text (not as part of the image). This makes copying the text much easier (for discussion and also people wishing to work offline). Just a thought. -
Website backgrounds are often 1px wide and tiled to repeat across the page width. Thus a beckham-slim image can be used to save a lot of bandwidth! This technique is particularly good with vertical gradients.
