You could select the black (i.e. common pixels) then invert the selection to reach a count of dissimilar pixels.

Sounds like you might have anti-aliasing artifacts. Try turning anti-aliasing off in the Tool Bar.

Your signatures are very nice, and I can't help feeling you're on the brink of a major leap forward with them. I believe that the technique you need to learn is composition. This is the technique of assembling components into a cohesive whole. At the moment your sigs look too formal and structured. Tips: 1. Try making some abstract sigs. Hi txmom - welcome 1. Where did you download the plugins? From this forum? 2. Please post a screenshot of the contents of your paint.net/Effects/ folder. It may help diagnose some common ailments. 3. I'm not sure what you mean by having the "layers" missing. Do you mean the Layers Window? Is it missing or is the window too small to show all the layers in your image (hint: you can drag the sides of that window to increase the size). 4. I am assuming you are using paint.net 4? (look in the top left hand corner)

What format are you saving in? It's important because some formats dither or change the colors to increase file compression.

You have said you have Win7 Ultimate, but not the service pack. I can't see it listed. Are you up to date with your Windows Updates? How to install SP1: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/service-packs-download#sptabs=win7

You want to replace the doormat? That should be fairly easy. Open the original image. Import the new mat image as a new layer using Import file in the Layers menu. Open Rotate/Zoom (Layers > Rotate/Zoom) and use the zoom control to resize the mat image. Use the roll control to tilt the mat image to make it appear the same shape as the mat in the original image. Flatten and save.

Its a plugin developed independently by someone other than the developer of paint.net. There is a list of plugins called the Plugin Index (link in my signature). Look up Color Balance in that and you'll find where to download the plugin.

TechnoRobbo has the correct solution. DO consider your PC infected. SCAN your PC with a reputable virus scanner. CLEAN out all remnants of the megalo pack. Everything. SCAN AGAIN. Once clean download your plugins FROM THIS FORUM. NEVER download them from anywhere else. Good luck.

Glad you found a way around this issue. Rick is the developer and will have logged this thread. Thanks also for posting the diagnostic info. I had to ask. If you had the language set to Klingon or Elvish there might be a problem with the keyboard The tool tips shouldn't be affected.

Houston - we have a problem..... Thankfully our neighborhood Admin Pyrochild is taking a look at it for us. Again - please be patient.

These shortcuts should be working in 4.x. As should the tool tips. I'm not aware of anyone else reporting this issue. Can you confirm this problem after a reboot? If the problem persists, please post the contents of your Setting > Diagnostics tab so we can see your system settings. Q: What language are you working in? Any special keyboard tweaks installed?
