  1. Rick, until that update, should we start recommending pdnrepair as a matter of course?
  2. Graphics programs do tend to use CPU...I guess I'm with TechnoRobbo, I don't see what the issue is here, either.
  3. I think you'll have to be more specific (I recommend opening a thread in the troubleshooting forum about this topic). I am not encountering any such problems (nor have I seen any more than usual on the forums for a new release). To me, Paint.NET 4 seems to be fairly polished and done. Some bugs, but that's to be expected of course.
  4. MS Paint GIMP Photoshop Paint.NET Inkscape vs. Paint Shop Pro Illustrator Aviary browsers office programs Billions of users vs. Hundreds of thousands of users (?) Sating your desire would break the workflow of millions. Early in 2013, Microsoft tried to change the established convention of what it means to buy a disc-based game; the Xbox One console would install the game as you played, and once it was done, it would not require you to insert the disc on that console again unless you played it on another console in the meantime. To prevent theft, they instituted a daily "check-in" between the console and their servers. The idea flopped. Players bemoaned the idea of an "always-online console" and decried it widely. Despite the fact that it was the optimal design, it violated the established convention and failed as a result. Xbox lost months of momentum and goodwill trying to stick to the original plan before giving up and giving in. Sometimes conventions aren't optimal design, but if you violate established convention (especially without communicating the reasons to the user well), you fail.
  5. He did mention that the new "plumbing" he was putting into place for 4.0 was such that it would allow for scrolling past the edges. So now, my friend, it is at least possible! Small steps. :-)
  6. Bitcoin is an online crypto-currency that has no real-world backing. It is completely online and decentralized. It's really interesting and increasing in price rapidly.
  7. We have discussed briefly our policy about 3.5.11 as a whole - to my recollection, Rick didn't make a final decision (or at least, proclamation) about when we would cut off all support for 3.5.11 on the forum. We will keep you all informed, though. And the rules will be updated when we know.
  8. I am also certain that the authors would gladly accept bitcoin. I know I would. :-)
  9. Yes, the ads are new. You are not going crazy. :-)
  10. Excuse me, that is the Bride of Frankenstein.
  11. All of the legitimate plugins on that site are also in our plugin forum. If they're worth downloading, they're here.
  12. Wooo! A long time coming, and worth the wait. Thanks, Rick!
  13. Lifehacker already noticed that 4.0 is available! http://lifehacker.com/paint-net-4-0-updates-with-better-performance-selectio-1595786296/all
  14. Ok, I'm lost. Kind of like skullbonz. I don't have a garage, and I live in the city so there aren't any deer. What if I want to sharpen a picture that isn't of a deer? Do I need layers? Bump
  15. You can also switch modes using the "Selection Mode:" drop-down menu on the toolbar, if you prefer. There, now you have both.
  16. I'm sorry, but in order to get support on this forum, you must be running a current version of Paint.NET. Either 3.5.11 (for now) or the 4.0 beta. I'd suggest trying the 4.0 beta out. I bet you'd like it. :-) For now, thread is locked.
  17. You can post a link to it in the offtopic thread here, but more than that is outside the purview of this board. This isn't really a drawing forum.
  18. Jenna, Here layers will serve you well. Draw on another layer and change the transparency for the entire layer. Or, as splatcat noted, change the opacity in the Colors window. :-)
