  1. as far as I know there isn't a tool to snap them to grid what I generally do is make another layer over the picture and use a grid plugin to get my straight lines set the transparency/blend of the grid layer way down so you can see your picture under neath go back to my picture layer then along the top of the screen click layers use the rotate and zoom that tends to help or if they are off just a touch select the whole layer the picture is on and rotate right click and you can swivel the layer around.
  2. madjic I've been looking for that chainmail texture you've used in the background is this a text/wingding? or can you briefly explain the steps to acheive thanks OMA
  3. call this one being lured into paint.net its a never ending addiction
  4. @someone2016 oh how did I miss that one by you its great. flower looks fine. two of the top portion slightly tilted would make it sort of like a tulip.
  5. @lylcoup very good first post in the pictorium. only things i can see is you have a few ragged edges especially along the top of the picture frame (white portion) and the eagles feathers edges.
  6. @twistedwhiskers like that one you did a great job on the text tut. here is one I'm working on for my new sig. refining the glass.
  7. yes realize that now  i just took a look at some of his work. especially like the sig dawmail333 has . So what ever you come up with dawmail333 please post it for us to admire in the pictorium. chow
  8. good one Madjik not quite as simplistic as mine but I really think closer to what our fellow forum member was after. after I re read the original posts I realized he was after something like the FXII styles. I think you should put this one in a little basic tut for the new users would give the newbies some basics and a quick picture they can expand upon. chow OMA who is now off to make a little space ship.
  9. from this page http://www.getpaint.net/download.html System Requirements Minimum System Windows XP (SP2 or later), or Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2003 (SP1 or later) .NET Framework 2.0 500 MHz processor (Recommended: 800 MHz or faster) 256 MB of RAM (Recommended: 512 MB or more) 1024 x 768 screen resolution 200+ MB hard drive space 64-bit support requires a 64-bit CPU that is running a 64-bit version of Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2003, and an additional 128 MB of RAM Please note that Paint.NET uses your hard drive to store temporary files related to undo/redo. Because of this, actual disk space requirements will depend on the type of actions you perform on an image, and on the size of the image. I'm not computor enough knowledge to tell you if there is a work around or not for 2000 maybe someone else will answere this thread as well and let you know if that's possible or not. personally I don't think so.
  10. OK for next time you need to search... up at the top right of your forum page is the search button clik that and type in what you are searching for I typed in "signature " this is one that might help you out viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4484 and here is another one much more complicated for first time users on this one you will need to read every post pages 1 to 7 of this post some of the technics still are useful for what you want to do. maybe you will get a few ideas that might help you out. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3363&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=signature hope that helped . post what you come up with in the pictorium and of course read the rules Rick posted to get the correct size you need to use for sigs. chow OMA
  11. first change your title open your post and use the edit button at the bottom change it to something like "question: about putting images into background" the generic help needed or equivalent almost always gets locked by the mods because its a rule designed to make searching for past topics more helpful. so give me a few mins I'll try to search out the how to do this, the posts that refer what you are trying to do definetly will be using layers etc. . chow OMA
  12. very simple one but didn't know skill level dawmail333 was working at if you have any problems with the resizing of the layers just let me know I can do a few scren shots then and put in the tuts section. although its just a matter of selecting transparent portion of layer inverting selection and using the move selected pixels tool. just keep the bottom most rung of your space ship the top layer second ring of space ship middle layer and top portion will be down there just above your background. chow OMA PS post your creation in the pictorium for us to admire. !
  13. not worthy of a tut but here is a very simple space ship 3 layers 3d shape background layer white next 3 layers any color you with ship to be.recommend all are same color though same 3d shape cylinder shape on all three color layers scale 1 hor 22 depth 1 height 1 ball top 1. bottom .010 axis 1 0 axis 2 90 axis 3 88 camera angle 23 anti a 5 resize the layers madjic wand background invert selection and adjust size of the layers simple enough?
  14. Thanks David for the answer. now have the link in my signature hope somepeople click on it . have put this in my help file. OMA
  15. I know the first thing you all will tell me is search. but I tried that one and just can't seem to find this topic. the key words I've tried were url, link, add a link to your signature, could some kind soul point me to the correct spot. thanks OMA :?
  16. tonight I'm playing with releif again solarize and some of the mandlebrot plug in. @TwistedWhiskers like that horse picture. very nice.
  17. @darkchilde_1977 now that is stunning. I love how you've done the trees. What did you end up doing as last post you said you needed to work on them.
  18. this is not quite paintnet related but the art work here has inspired me to attempt old fashioned drawing this is the first portrait I've tried. and yes I know already the nose isn't correct. needs to be be more on an angle. same with eyeglasses and te left side of face needs to be trimmed back closer to the eye glass frame... just wanted to show you all what I've mastered in just a few months ... from stick people to real life edited picture out MR. OMA didn't want to be famous.
  19. Yata and Commandersozo left you comments on deviant art. OMA
  20. ASH that's really nice I remember way back when I asked for a tut on your gemstone #1 and I found that one so beautiful but wow this latest is "The gem of gems" your work makes me always smile. chow your friend OMA
  21. well I guess the easist way for me to get back in th swing of things is to practice one element a day tonight it was working with releif so here is my practice shot
  22. Ash are people asking mkt to change things in the plug in? why? it was his free work to us all and I for one am ever so greatful. I would liked that he should stick around with us, leave the 3d plug in as it is for now and update whenever he gets a chance. Maybe he has another idea kicking around in his perfect brain that he wants to work on instead, and we should all just let him do his own thing at his own pace. I'm no programer but the source code would help those that are to work on some truly amazing items. Perhaps that's the route to go. So.... MKT thanks for the plug in I use it almost everyday. It is truly awesome.
  23. @verndewd only thing I can say is wow! glad I posted my feeble effort before yours....... I'm still not sure how you get your work so sharp mine always tends to be a bit washed out. must be the too cute colors. will try a darker version of things next time. good use of plug in.
  24. @someone2016 love the mandlebrot pict you did especially the treatment you've done with the edges of the pictures. like those cut away transparent portions. must remember this for some of my future creations. I follow the masters of paint.net control and you rank right up there my pal. good work
