You're welcome. Which part of my advice was the most useful to you?

I wonder if a small utility could be written to test all the fonts with GDI+ and report any problems. Anybody know if something like this already exists?
-
No. And, this forum is for publishing plugins only. Moving to general discussion...

Nice tutorial. Just remember, as Rick stated in another post, Paint.NET supports TrueType fonts, not OpenFont fonts. So, if you know of a good source of FREE True Type fonts, post links here...

In Paint.NET you can only work on one picture at a time. Your current picture uses up all of your workspace--it is centered and can not be moved. When you want to work on another picture, click on its thumbnail in the upper right corner of your Paint.NET window. Hope this helps.

There are so many crash logs pertaining to font issues... If only the crash log showed the currently selected font.

That's not a lot. I'm guessing you don't have enough physical memory to run Paint.NET. I recommend an upgrade to your system RAM to 1-2G.

Well, I run mine in multi-monitor mode often. When running on the second screen and I move a docker it says on that second screen--even when I close PdN and open it again running in single screen mode. Now that you mention it, I don't think the docker positioning is relative to the upper left corner of the main PdN window...

HELP with an effect!
BoltBait replied to ATLBravesCH02's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Use the Magic Wand tool and adjust the tollerance for the desired effect. This is not always as easy as it sounds. You will need to exparament with adding to a selection, various tollerence settings, and where to click, etc. Keep at it. Oh, and if all else fails, you can try one of these two things: 1) create a copy of the layer, increase the contrast and use that layer for selections only. Then, delete it when you are done. 2) create a new layer and draw in pure black (turn off anti-aliasing) in the shape you want to select. When finished, select, switch layers, run the effect, delete the new layer you had created. -
"Pictorium" forum: Rick said no go :(

Actually, if you think about it, you can modify the URL to get right to the page you want... But, yeah, I support this idea. -

I think the Overflow forum description could be modified to say... all "Hi, I'm new!" messages go here. -
HELP with an effect!
BoltBait replied to ATLBravesCH02's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
This is actually quite easy. First, open your full color image. Second, select the parts of the image that you want to remain colored and press Ctrl-I to invert your selection. (Or, simply select the parts of the photo you want to make black and white.) Finally, click the Adjustment menu and select Black and White (or press Ctrl-Shift-G) That's it. However, if you are trying to color a black and white image, that is a whole other story. -
sorry for a nother effect question

Select the orange and black as your primary/secondary color, then use the cloud effect? Or, make the flames in black and white, then use the Color Balance adjustment effect to tint the image? Or... ? -

Feature request: Arrow Tool
BoltBait replied to Shadrack's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
OK, try this: Arrows.dll I know the UI is less then optimal, but I think you'll get used to it (at least until Paint.NET has a REAL arrow tool--or until I update it). This draws lines inside of the current selection using the Primary color and current paint brush width. The thicker the Paint Brush, the better the line looks... try 7 or 8. It will draw the lines solid, dashed, or dotted. It will draw lines using anti-aliasing, or not, your choice. -
Click on "Window" then click "Reset Window Locations"

That is excellent to hear. Please let me know if you need help beta testing this feature. Do you expect it to be within the v3.5 time frame or more distant then that? More like this afternoon time frame... -
