  1. See if you can use PNG instead. It supports transparency.
  2. Did you "unblock" the files? http://boltbait.googlepages.com/install That might be it.
  3. Use the magic wand set the tolerance low (like 10%) click on the white area around the outside the object, press Ctrl-I to invert the selection, press the Crop button :Crop:
  4. Use a better thread title next time. Closed.
  5. It will probably be easier when Paint.NET actually supports custom brushes. Until then, it will be... um... difficult.
  6. Man, that is good! But now BoltBait, I WANT you to colour it. Remember, gradients are the best option in replicating vector images so good luck! Thanks! I can't color it. Maybe we can get oma to do it.
  7. Nice job bb00! That's the most realistic one on the thread. I'll give that one a try.
  8. Turn your tolerance down to 0%: Secondly, make sure you have the proper layer selected when you press the Delete key.
  9. My go at Gordon Brown: The only thing I used was Paint.NET's line tool. (OK, I did use the circle tool to draw the eyes.)
  10. Using this technique, this is what I get: Actually, what I did was this: Create a new layer On this layer, color in brown all the areas that I wanted to darken my beard. Feather (Shrink method) the brown area. This softens the effect near the edges to make it more natural. Add Noise (no color saturation). Direction blur in the direction of the beard hair. Change the layer to Multiply and set the opacity for desired effect. All in all, cheaper than a bottle of hair dye.
  11. Paint.NET already has this. Just hold down the Ctrl key while using the scroll wheel.
  12. Depending on the image type, it MAY be possible: When using the menu Image > Resize, try the different resampling methods. For example, cartoon-like images would work best with the Nearest Neighbor resampling method.
  13. Shoot! I thought everyone had forgotten about that. I think I'll actually work on a CodeLab plugin update first... (I might even have some time this afternoon.)
  14. *coughsearchcough* I have tried that and can find nothing. Here is an interesting conversation: viewtopic.php?p=43764#p43764
  15. Getting there. But, unless I spend a ton of time with the selection it still looks fake. http://boltbait.googlepages.com/ChainSaw.jpg (Dial-up alert: 2MB file)
  16. Of course! I tried Curves+. But, most of the time I try to use it I just get totally lost. What I need though, are some SPECIFIC steps/settings. I also tried Conditional Hue/Saturation. Ugh. It did a great job changing my wife's socks from red to blue. But, I couldn't get it to do anything to my beard except turn it neon green.
  17. OK, so I'm old. I know. And, I have some gray in my beard. My wife saw a picture of me that she really likes and wanted to know if I could color the gray in my beard to be a natural dark brown. I tried everything I could think of, but in the end I just couldn't get it to look natural. I'll post up a source picture later, if necessary. (I don't have it with me.) So, other than turning back the clock or "Just for Men", any idea on how I can fix this? Thanks!
  18. Post this sort of thing in the pictorium. Closed.
  19. Post your picture in the Pictorium. If someone wants a tutorial, they will make a request there.
  20. I've gotten some complaints from established members getting "bitten" by other members. I'm going to extend that rule to cover EVERYONE. If you want to be rude, do it on another message board. We have no use for it here.
  21. Znupi, here is your answer: Rick plans to implement a metadata editor in a future version of Paint.NET. Until then, we have this workaround.
  22. Hold down the [ctrl] key while using the mouse scroll wheel. New feature of v3.20: Ctrl+Alt+0 now works for View->Actual Size (aka, "Zoom to 100%"), which is a shortcut key that other software uses (e.g., Photoshop).
