brianpeiris
Shouldn't the "Erase Selection" function clear the contents of the selection but leave the selection in place (i.e. it should not "Deselect") ? Right now there isn't an easy way to clear a selection other than using the eraser tool and manually erasing the whole thing, which can be a hassle with large areas. Just seems counter-intuitive. I'd much rather have "Erase Selection" clear the contents and then leave it up to me to "Deselect" or not. Or, am I missing something altogether? Thanks, Brian. P.S. sorry if this has been answered already, I tried Search, but since you can't look for an exact phrase I couldn't find anything useful. Hellfire010
I've been annoyed by this as well. What I usually do is make a new layer, fill the selection with black, then reselect it after I delete whatever needs deleted. But, I like your idea; it would make things so much easier! usedHONDA
I thought of it before, but never thought of how annoying it really is. Now it feels more annoying than before. I think that should be an option. archip
Sorry to resurrect this but I also think it should be an option because it's very annoying to lose the selection when we clear it. Or maybe just have a filter that clear the selection.
Red ochre
http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/24861-selection2clear/ (now in my plugin pack, link in sig) I made that to cope with losing the selection after erasing, which can be annoying when erasing on many layers. skullbonz
I don't understand this. You want to erase the selection but still want to keep the selection? How about shutting that layer off and add an empty layer? It sounds so much simpler to me. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21233-skullbonz-art-gallery

Cc4FuzzyHuggles
Sounds like you found what you wanted archip, that's good. But for the future, try not to post (or reply) to very old threads. This thread was made all the way back in 2007.
