PDN runs on a Mac?

Recommended Posts

Hi guy's,

I'm this close to buying an iMac (needed for school and stuff) and I did not find a topic yet, apologies that I have not searched a lot.

Anyway, I would like to know if I can down/install PDN on a mac (before I buy one)

thanks!

PDN isn't officially supported on MAC to my knowledge

You could probably find some backstreet (or whatever the cyber equivalent is) method of running it, if you trolled around the net.

Apple:
Yes, you can. Since Apple’s transition to Intel processors in 2006, Windows applications run beautifully on the Mac—faster than they do on many PCs, in fact. To run Windows applications, you’ll need additional software and a Mac with an Intel processor running Mac OS X v10.4.6 or higher. Every currently shipping Mac qualifies, but older Macs may not.

To run Windows applications, do I have to run the Windows operating system?

Yes, you do. Basically, there are two ways to run Windows on your Mac:

  1. Boot into Windows at startup. This dedicates 100% of the processor power to Windows and Windows applications. You can’t use Mac OS X again until you restart.
  2. Use virtualization software, which lets you run Mac OS X and Windows side by side. You can switch between them as easily as you’d switch between Mac applications.

But you can’t run Windows without Windows—you’ll need to acquire your own copy of either Windows XP or Windows Vista to use either solution.

For the best one, do more of your own research!

thanks for the comments...

@ BB I don't want to buy a laptop anymore... I hate those things, lol and besides, I don't take them away from home, so why would I need one? I was looking for an iMac or a Mac Pro, but since the last one is really too expensive, I probably will get an iMac...

@ nanette, since the latest version of Mac, you are able to put non-mac programs on it, but you will need to have Intel, am I right SAND33P?

anyway, I won't throw away the laptop I have now, so it will be possible to keep on doing PDN, but certainly I will try to get PDN on a Mac, or Rick could write, program stuff he is good at, so PDN will also be able to run on the mac?

All Macs are Intel-based since 2006, but you still need Windows if you want to run Windows programs.

He's stated many times that that is never going to happen.

No. This is never ever EVER going to happen. Don't talk about me like that, it's rude.

The .NET framework is a microsoft product. To write paint.net for macs, I assume, would involve rewriting the whole thing, not to mention buying a mac instead of a car...

No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait
