0(-.-)0
They count as long as its 100% PDN. I would love to see some reflections. They're hard to do realistically. - Any thoughts? -
0(-.-)0
Its a nice piece. VERY realistic match, Welsh! Its amazing. - Any thoughts? -
csm725
...of the month is IMO a long time. Anyhoo, as of now my fav entries are: 1. Welshblue -Â Â That is very very..... very.... very realistic. 2. Possum Roadkill - Also realistic, nice playful aspect. Only down-side is the zoomy part of the magnifying glass. 3. Barbieq25 - A nearly perfect execution of an abstract represenation of light, just a little lacking in something. Still a top-notch piece and probably one of your best, let alone the best, abstracts ever. 4. VatherLokus - Realistic scene, but conical gradient in sky is too obvious. Lens Flare is not in place. Still good. My deviantART | Sig Battles | My Tutorials | csm725.com Click to enter or vote in the official Paint.NET competitions! Kemaru
Thanks, I'll be honest and say I thought of adding a reflection after your piece. It's amazing! It's really realistic. I'm still not quite sure about my blurring, but I'm hoping people will like it. pdnnoob
lol thx! I'd give maybe half a dozen mistakes in my pic, but that isn't usually a good idea when you're in a competition To tell the truth, I think it was much easier to make than your pic The blurring's great. If it really concerns you, try making the un-blurred area wider. something that would make it a little more realistic than it already is: make a lighted area on the ground. All you have to do is make a slightly transparent ellipse and blur it. At the moment, it looks like the light bulb is on the ground (because awesome shadow), but not on the ground. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints other than the fact that I can't figure out how you made the glass part of the bulb. My best guess sounds really tough to me, but making that bulb looks tough without even knowing how it was done Apologies for over-use of emoticons...bad habit of mine No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich. Kemaru
Thanks pdnnoob. Unlike magicians, I share my secrets. So here's how I made the glass part: I filled a layer with white (or 50% gray). Used Shape3D, cylinder with a round top. After fiddling with size and stuff, I checked the "transparency" checkbox and messed with that a little. Changed Anti-Alias level to 5. Then I used Distort/Bulge. This was the hardest part, because it was hard to make it look like a real light bulb. After I put the light source in, I unselected all but the glass layers, used Apply Image* and put it on top of the light source and changed the blending mode to overlay. I think I could've done better with the shadows, for example there should be a shadow underneath the gass part as well. *= Flatten, Select All, Copy, Undo 'til layers are back, New Layer, Paste. Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule. |fb(page)|portfolio|blog|
pdnnoob
O.O I would never have thought to do that...nice work! I'm not really sure about changing the shadows, though. The glass part contains the light source. Adding shadow under it would imply that the light was being blocked by the glass itself and the source was above the entire bulb.
