Rick Brewster
Yeah but you gotta give me a moment to be a smartass v3.0 has a soft date of December. I will cut features to make that date. Right now it's converging quite well towards a first milestone, and then after that I plan on adding a very small handful of features, releasing 3.0, then shoveling the remaining features in to v3.x releases. RaveN
I hope one would be an airbrush...or a way to multi select layers, or tabbed images.
Rick Brewster
Right now the guaranteed features are MDI and the improved Colors window that I described in another thread. There are also lots of little things that I can't even remember without pulling up the list of resolved bugs and work items. The other feature I am planning on, with the highest priority, is a gradient tool. And remember, any features not in 3.0 aren't cut. They're just shoveled into the bucket for the next release. RaveN
Yeah I read that on the Main site, will that be like Photoshop? with adjustable patterns? or just a line pulling and blending the foreground and background colors? Either way, good job....I really wish there was an airbrush, I hear gimp has one, but I don't wanna be a traitor.
BoltBait
How is an airbrush different from drawing on a new layer and applying a frosted glass filter to it? That's what MS Paint would look like. Or applying a guassian blur to it (like other programs would look like). Rick Brewster
For the gradient I plan on making it more "wysiwyg" than Photoshop. In PS you have to draw a line and then let go of the mouse button before it renders anything. I find that to be a nuisance, and am going to implement it so that it draws the gradient in real-time as you're moving the mouse. RaveN
Wow, nice, I am lucky I am running a really fast computer so it will render good for me.

RaveN
The only thing I like on PS is the stock blue to tan gradient. That and an airbrush, works wonders for making 3d shapes....I can Do it in PDN, just takes me like 20 layers.
Rick Brewster
Well gosh I mean we now have dual core 3ghz processors and 64-bits and stuff, why the heck shouldn't we take advantage of it. RaveN
I want that. I Have a single core 3.7 ghz...I am getting a new video card soon. Haha, the video cards at school are so bad, I laugh at them everytime I log on. They wont let me bring my laptop. Ok, I have made my choice, hence why I am editing this, I am going to stay with paint.net Is there any way I can learn the code to somehow make an airbrush plugin? I really like airbrushing. RaveN
Haha, Sorry, by the way, I just downloaded 2.72, and wow this is really cool. Gotta select with lasso around obtuse objects though hehe, but I am used to doing that, cutting a lot of images out, then blurring the edges about 1 Px, this might be better than gaussian blurring it. And yes, Thanks Rick for this great program.

Everyone has a right to that every once in a while. While I'm really looking forward to MDI and whatever else you add, one feature I hope doesn't change is the Auto Level. Most of the time it works great when I need it, better than Paint Shop Pro X version of the same tool.
Rick Brewster
Just out of interest, what are the features that have been cut from PDN3.0 ? Well, I guess it's really less of a question of "what has been cut from 3.0?", and more a matter of what features have been prioritized to be included in 3.0 in order to release it, say, this year. For example, to say that scripting support was cut from 3.0 isn't really correct. It's just a feature we're tracking in our bug database so that we don't forget about it -- it's not like I was planning on including it in 3.0.
