  1. Seeing as I lived through the 60's I couldn't pass this comp up,lol. Everything in this sig is from a mind that remembers(barely) the 60's,my teenage years. Oh and of course I used a picture of the Beatles and one of Kennedy/Nixon from http://www.landyvisi...ck_69/index.htm. The Hendrix pic came from http://www.topfoto.c...69/default.html,fonts from dafont.com. Nixon got my first presidential vote, lol. Now if I have this new photo bucket figured out right you should be able to see it,lol. After looking through this thread I discovered I posted the wrong one,the only thing that is different was the fuzzy white line between Kennedy and Nixon to complete the peace sign effect, the first one didn't have it,I had changed it but failed to post the right link, sorry,I'm getting old, lol.
  2. Thank you everybody. "Did you try just copying the "thumb" link & then previewing your post? What did it do? Hope you get it sorted"@Barbieq25--I tried every combination,I think, lol, they took that little section out that we used to remove for the thumb so now I am all messed up,lol. Photo bucket just redid their site, going to take me a bit to figure it out.
  3. I just added a few new art pics but photobucket has changed around so I apologize for no thumbs. As soon as this old fart figures out how to get them to show, they will, lol. They have a whole different link that doesn't have the part you remove in them, hhmmm.
  4. An easy way I have found to add the glow to the bolts is to duplicate the layer with the lightning bolts drawn on it. On the bottom layer of these two set your primary color to be the same color as your lghtning bolts, outline object at about 5 or 6,more if you wish. Then feather at about 5,then gaussian blur at about 50-60 or what ever level looks good to you. Now add a touch of gaussian blur to the top layer and maybe adjust the brightness a bit. I have also done this with three layers making the first or top layer white and thinner than the actual lightning bolt, while the other layers are a light blue. Just one of my crude ways of using pdn, lol, hope it works for you. I have also used the dents plugin along the way to give the lightning bolts more of a jiggly look, lol,(the only word i could come up with for it,lol)
  5. A list of keyboard shortcuts somewhere in the forum might be useful also(hint, hint),lol.
  6. If you want the glow to be around the lightning bolt, there are several ways to achieve this. There are a few tutorials on lightning bolts in the tutorial section,I suggest doing a few of these first to get the idea. If what you are looking for is the glitter of stars then that is much more complicated and again there are tutorials for that. There are two plugins for this,Sparkles and Star Glow but I suggest reading the thread on each so as to understand how they both work,it takes awhile to get these figured out but stick with it and you will. I strongly suggest doing tutorials along the lines of what you are trying to achieve before starting your projects,it makes life much simpler.
  7. @ jim-- It's an HP Photosmart 8150,with HP glossy photo paper and strictly HP ink,#97 and #99 to be exact. Another problem is the picture comes out a bit darker than the original also but I think the color problem fix would fix this also. Would this printer be inferior and I need an upgrade? Or maybe I should be using a different combo of ink? @ midora--Thanks I'll try that. Being that I have no college education on art,I am learning as I go. Am I correct in assuming then that this has nothing to do with the colors I am using to make the pictures? Oh and the pc is an HP 6616(with a new motherboard, lol),quad core processor(also new),a GeForce 8400GS vid card,8gb Ram,a HP 2010i monitor and 2.25 tb of space on 3 hd's,2 internal and 1 external,windows7 home os. This thing never wimpers or lets out a peep, except when I accidentally hit the thermal heat map on a big file, lol. Previously I had pdn on xp and anything took forever, then on Vista which was much better but now I am in heaven with this one, lol. Seconds and minutes replace hours and days, lol.
  8. Thank you so much Ego Eram Reputo for this index and continued updating of same. It has proven to be very useful for me and I have used it many times along with checking for new updates/plugins. Now my only problem is that I have so many plugins I can't decide what to try next, lol.
  9. First I must apologize if this question has an answer somewhere in the forum and my old feeble mind has overlooked it in my searches. My question is this; When I make a picture with pdn and print it out the colors change on me. The printed version looks much different from the saved version. Is there a way in pdn to correct this? Or would it be in my printer options? I usually save my pictures as a png file type if that helps.
  10. @ Xzerizon,,,Good luck with this project and i hope to see your outcome. Also some awesome example pics, they have given me a new inspiration. @ Yellowman,,,Awesome pic dude!! @ Everyone,,,,,Between the pictures and the discussion I thank you all for inspiring me to go off on another tangent with PDN,love it,real cool.
  11. Ooops,then I am a bit late,sorry. :Tools: <---(you should have read more skullbonz)
  12. I have seen a lot of people having problems finding the correct download links on the www.getpaint.net download page and also had to point some friends in the right direction because it is a bit confusing for noobs. Hopefully I am not over stepping my bounds by posting these two pics to help clarify for some which links to click. On the first page click the one outlined in red. On the next page click the DOTPDN link circled in red and if that one doesn't work, click the mirror host one next to it. II hope this helps some and I didn't anger the PDN gods, lol. (all red circles were made with pdn)
  13. When I first started using PDN a year and a half ago I was in the same place you are now mmcl26544. What you should do is practice with something first and get yourself familiarized with working with layers. Layers is the most basic key that all noobs should learn first. I use the layer box at the bottom right(or wherever you might have moved it to) of PDN when you have it open, more than anything else. In that layer box only the layer that is highlighted will be the one that changes will be made on. If you have the wrong one highlighted and make changes, the changes will be wrong but undo under the edit tab at the top will back you out of it. Also with layers remember that they are stacked in the layer box in order of front to back ,the bottom one being the back and the top one being the front of your picture. The other thing noobs need to know is "canvas size" and basics on how it works. When you click the Image tab at the top and then click "canvas size" you will see that you have a few choices. One thing that messed me up in the beginning with this was that it kept adding a color around a layer when I did this until I found out that before trying to re-size the canvas set your secondary color to transparent, click on the secondary color in the color wheel box, bottom left, click more, then at the bottom of the box adjust the transparency/alpha to 0. Now when you re-size the canvas the extra space should be transparent and you will see the checker board which just means transparency. This also happens when you add a picture or something as another layer that is bigger then your canvas size so remember to set the secondary color to 0 or transparent first. With a bigger canvas size you can now move pictures or selections(layers) around to where ever you want them. Now knowing these two basic steps try practicing with layers remembering that only the layer that is highlighted in the layer box, bottom right of pdn, will be the layer changes take effect on. Also once another layer is highlighted the previous one will be set where it is so make sure that what you want in the picture is still within your canvas size. Once you master these two things the rest will start to make sense. Practice and experimentation in the beginning will help. One more thing I have to add, lol, the lasso tool doesn't really work like a lasso, lol, more like a free form select tool. Also note there are two "Move" tools, one moves the whole canvas, the other moves the selected portion. I hope this helps a bit from one noob to another. Relax, practice and master PDN because it is surely the best program going in my book and I have tried all the rest. Once you understand the PDN interface then go start doing tutorials, easy ones first and work your way to the more complicated ones. Trying to do a complicated one before understanding the interface will surely get you lost and frustrated. Happy PDN'ing and I am looking forward to seeing some of your future work.
  14. @ jonkiser, scroll back up this page to null54's post and you will get your answer.
  15. When I saw this tutorial,I just had to try it. I love doctoring up family photos and doing cool things like this to them. The trick is finding pictures that will work for this,ie, the right angles for the shots,it has changed the way I will think about taking some of my future shots from now on,lol. I loved this tutorial spongey437,real cool, thank you very much. Here is my first attempt at it with my youngest grandaughter,Maya. And Minners71,that pic is an awesome idea and real cool.
  16. Awesome pics dug, Seabed is definitely my favorite, real cool.
  17. Thank you very much dug, sorry for not replying sooner,I haven't been around much with summer here and work. Here are a few of my latest space pictures. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21233-skullbonz-art-gallery-update-august-5th/
  18. Heh,heh, heh,I have had this plugin for more than a year and have never been able to figure it out or get it to work right, lol. I just came back here and read what each slider does, then I scrolled down and read MadJik's explanations on how to achieve each type of effect. And wouldn't ya know it? Just by doing some reading above I can now make it work perfectly. I would suggest that others might want to read a bit before asking the same question that keeps popping up,lol. Thanks MadJik,another very fine plugin.
  19. Thank you nanettealsop. I am still a newbie and learning.
  20. I love this plugin and use it quite a bit. So far I have used it on windows xp,vista and 7 with no problems. Thank you very much for this plugin.
  21. If you didn't save it as a pdn file to begin with, then it converted it to what ever file extension you saved it as and I am afraid you lost the pdn file. I have lost a few before I caught on to "Always check what you are saving as" before you click save. What you are trying to do is similar to waking up a dead person, lol. But I never knew about Irfanview before so I will check that out and remember it for the future.
  22. Wacom graphics tablets work great for sculptris and when I can afford it,zbrush.
  23. I don't know about the others, but this makes absolutely no sense to me.
