    Wooden Barrel

This image was based on this tutorial and was almost finished in time for the OotF#60 competition. I thought I'd post it here now that the competition is over.
  2. Congratulations to the winners and all who took part. Very high quality entries but the winner is in a different league altogether.
  3. ... or read this topic: Any of the solutions suggested should work for you.
  4. I like it very much. Thank you @MJW.
  5. 😲 So many years of using PDN and I did not know that! Now I know. Thank you @Ego Eram Reputo.
  6. I find the OP suggestion very useful and I'd like to see it implemented if possible, when possible, for the same reason. I cases like this, it's useful to draw your line on a new layer and then adjust its position to line up with your image. True, true and true... BUT it does not work well for straight lines. You cannot adjust the position of the whole line (i.e. all four knobs together), so it's impossible to keep the line perfectly straight.
  7. I have also used Gradient Mapping to successfully recolour textures.
  8. It looks like I misunderstood you use of "stacking". What you want to accomplish is beyond my knowledge. Is it like HDR? Until someone more knowledgeable come to the rescue, try a forum search using https://forums.getpaint.net/forum/51-paintnet-search/
  9. I feel very stupid. I thought I had one more week for the barrel competition. I came back from the beach today meaning to finish my entry and post it. I'm disappointed but not too much; I enjoyed working on it anyway.
  10. Colourful entries indeed. Deserved winner @welshblue. I liked the "disco" graphic better. Thank you host @lynxster4 and everyone who took part and voted. On to the next one...
  11. I like it. I always prefer having a specific result goal when creating with PDN.
  12. Brilliant! Thank you for pointing out another use of your plugin. Perhaps worth pointing this out on the pack topic? EDIT: (for the benefit of anyone who may ask) To pinpoint the exact pixel to select, you may have to - either turn the grayscale layer visibility off, but keep it selected/highlighted in the Layers window, - or move grayscale layer below the original layer, but keep it selected/highlighted in the Layers window. This way you can see the original layer when clicking with the Magic Wand on exact pixel you want on the grayscale layer.
  13. Congratulations to all who took part, especially the 1st place winners. I love the Varta and the round Duracell images. Thank you host, @Pixey.
  14. It looks like you need to understand how layers work. Once you get that, creating collages will be routine. Have a look at: Layers Window and Working with Layers. You may also want to read Blend Modes. There is also a quick tutorial at https://www.isimonbrown.co.uk/pdn-collage/. It's for an older version of PDN but it'll help you with the basics.
  15. Read this for more on the Shape Tool: https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/ShapeTools.html
  16. The Spaced Text plugin will overlap letters on the same line if a negative space value is selected. However, that way you will not be able to have a letter shadow over its neighbour like in your example above. I think the best way to achieve that is to type each letter on its own transparent layer and then move each letter around with the Move Tool and use the Drop Shadow plugin (or any of the other shadow plugins).
  17. 1. Download a copper / bronze texture image or create your own by adjusting one of the many metal / chrome tutorials on this forum. 2. Create a new image, import your copper texture on a new layer. 3. Use the Shape Tool on Shape Outline mode to draw some ellipses, one per layer. Set brush size to a thick-ish size. In my example I used size 20. 4. On each ellipse shape layer, use Switch Alpha to Gray plugin, found on BoltBait's Plugin Pack, to create shape masks, "tick" the "Invert" option. "Untick" each mask layer to make it invisible. 5. Copy the texture layer as many times as you have mask layers. 6. Use the Alpha Mask plugin. (Although it says on the plugin topic that it may not work with the current version of PDN, it works fine for me and this is the plugin shown in my screenshots. You may prefer to use the Paste Alpha plugin in the same BoltBait's pack I linked above). Copy one mask layer on the clipboard at a time and use the plugin on the texture layers, one at a time. 7. Duplicate each texture layer. On the bottom layer of each pair use the Trail plugin found in pyrochild plugins. Set the distance the same value as the brush width set for the Shape Tool in Step 3, set the angle to 270 and "untick" the ""Fade out" option. 8. Set the Blend Mode for the top layer of each pair of texture layers to "Additive" or whatever works best for your particular texture. 9. Merge each pair of texture layers together and use as needed.
  18. If I understand what the OP tried to explain... think he needs a selection tool much like the Magic Wand only instead of clicking on the image to select, the user can input hex values and all pixels of that exact value will be selected. I think this may be a nice addition to the selection tools. @KarlosGeek, instead of a selection, you can achieve what you need using colour plugins, like for example Color Range and Cut Color. These two allow for setting RGB values. I don't know of any that allow for setting hex values, but it may be worth your while to do a search using the Plugin Index.
  19. This was made using a copper texture copied from the internet, the Shape Tool, Alpha Mask and Trail: I can go into step-by-step details if needed.
  20. I'm not sure how feasible your suggestions are and if, never mind when, they can be implemented. In order to keep track of the fonts (and other attributes I think important) I use in my images, I type the details the layer name. For example:
  21. Text effects are fun for me, I enjoyed this competitions very much. Thank you host, @lynxster4. Very good entries, congratulations to all who took part. IMO, the "MJW" and "Silence" signatures were the best, so I'm pleased they received some recognition.
  22. That is the main reason why I too prefer this one over the other.
