  1. That's clever @Vagabondi. I used to make make my own thumbnails. The advantage is that you can make each thumbnail a size that looks good for each individual artwork and it can be in any format (like, for example, jpg or gif to save filesize). Resize your image to whatever size looks good within the forum limits and upload both the original and the smaller version to your image host. Post the smaller version on the forum and use that to create a link to the full sized image.
  2. You ask for help, yet you ignore the advice offered. Like @toe_head2001 wrote above, this is the topic you want and the link you need:
  3. I don't know if it helps or not, but when I use the Color Clearer plugin to clear a background, I duplicate the resulting "object" and then use @Red ochre's Object2color to turn the lower layer object into the colour I have "cleared". Rarely do I need to also adjust blend modes and/or opacity.
  4. Yes it would! Use the Plugin Index to search for plugins like Grim Color Reaper, Kill Color Keeper, Cut Color, Color Clearer. Do a generic "color" search to find quite a few more that I can't remember off the top of my head. Alternatively, follow this @TrevorOutlaw video tutorial on how to use remove.bg that also works for more complex backgrounds:
  5. Fox outline: http://clipart-library.com/clipart/fox-clipart-black-and-white-3.htm
  6. The "globe thing" is under Layers, like @Pixey wrote above. Black and Alpha+ is a plugin you'll need to install. You mention you have a fresh installation of PDN. I think you may need to install a few more of your favourite plugins. Look for them by browsing the Plugin Publishing forum or use the Plugin Index for a search.
  7. Congratulations to @Ego Eram Reputo, @Ladybug and all who entered. I think I enjoyed this one the most. Some very good entries indeed but I agree that @Ego Eram Reputo's is the best and a well deserved winner. He submitted his entry first and I knew as soon as I saw it that it would be very hard to beat. Still, I had a lot of fun creating my entries. Thank you @BoltBait for deciding to feature my graphics. I proudly showed my wife the images on your website but it backfired. She decided I have too much free time on my hands and I should do more chores around the house.
  8. My very first win! Thank you all for your congratulations. Some very good entries in this competition, so congratulations are due to all who took part, especially @Pixey for her podium places. I also like to thank @Pixey for hosting and for insisting that I get my entry right as per the competition rules.
  9. This sounds reasonable but I think it would also mean a lot of trial and error on the part of the user. Still, I don't have a better suggestion. In my example on the other topic, I used a long image centred on a large square canvas and then cropped into a much smaller rectangle around the spiral.
  10. @Charlie FH, don't be surprised if a moderator renames your topic title. In this forum we prefer topic titles to be descriptive of the content subject in order to facilitate future searches and reference. ---------------- If I understand you right, you'd like to achieve something like this example: If this is what you want, or something similar: 1. With a copy of the photograph as the background layer, create a new layer above and set your primary colour to white. 2. Use the Paintbrush to paint over the person furthest from the camera (i.e. the person furthest in the background). Try to keep to the general shape of the person but there's no need to be very accurate. 3. Use @BoltBait's Outline Object plugin to outline your white shape with a black outline. 4. Create new layers, one for each person in the photograph, and repeat steps 2 and 3 for each person. Work on all persons in order back to front, so your topmost layer is of the person closest to the camera. 5. Add a new layer above and add your index for each person. Name, number, initials, whatever suits you. 6. Add a new layer just above the background layer but below all other layers and fill it with black. * Save your image as .PDN, then flatten and save as .PNG.
  11. I think you've nailed it! Now it's playing in my mind, so I'm off to the music topic to post...
  12. Thank you @MJW, I have just tried it and it works just fine. My only comment is on the name of the plugin/effect. Perhaps "Archimedean Spiral" is enough.
  13. @Collector, the answers you received last time you asked make no sense to me. In any case, here you are:
  14. @Azhrei, my guess is, the Spiderman front cover "frame" was transparent. Therefore, when you moved your image layer below the cover layer, the image was visible within the frame. In your current effort, the "frame" is not transparent, so the image below is not visible. You have the solution @AndrewDavid suggested to paste into your selection. Another way is to delete your "frame" (just hit Delete on the keyboard after you have your selection) to make it transparent. Then paste your image in a layer below the "frame" and move it around like you did for the Spiderman cover.
  15. I enter the competitions for the fun of it and to do my two-cents' worth for the forum. However, some things bother me so much I just can't ignore them. One such thing is that there seems to be something wrong with he forum software that counts the votes. I have just voted for the current OotF competition, the voting post says that 1 member has voted, yet I see two entries with two votes each. It seems like the forum gives some entries a head start.
  16. Congratulations @barbieq25, @Pixey, @doughty and @lynxster4. Very good entries by all, with the exception of mine, of course. I admit I do not share all the hype about Halloween and I did not put much effort into this competition; and everybody saw it. I like @doughty's entry best, so I'm glad it won gold.
  17. Thank you @NSD and @ReMake. I copied and pasted the text above only for the plugin to disappear altogether. It was not in Effects, neither in Effects > Text Formations. I tried again without the spaces either side of "=" and it worked. It may have been a fluke, bit I thought I'd mention it anyway. When (if?) the plugin is released in the main plugin forum, I think it would perhaps be easier for everyone if it was placed in the text sub-menu outright.
  18. Polar Inversion with added options! Thank you @Reptillian.
  19. @NSD, wouldn't it make sense if Wrap Text on Path was placed in the "Text Formations" sub-menu?
  20. Works like a charm. Thank you @MJW.
  21. Inner Shadow and Bevel Selection that @Ego Eram Reputo mentions above are ideal for this sort of effect. The same goes for Bevel Object, also in the same pack. Embossing and "debossing" (engraving) done also without plugins, as I have learned from reading tutorials on this forum. To engrave without plugins: 1. Open / import your background image. 2. On a new layer, type your text in white. 3. Duplicate the white text layer and Invert Color (Ctrl+Shift+I) to make it black text. 4. Select the Magic Wand tool, set it in Global Mode, click anywhere on the black text to select all the text. 5. Activate the background layer and copy the selection (Ctrl+C). 6. Paste the selection in a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+V). Move this layer to the top. 7. Activate the black text layer, Select All (Ctrl+A), select the Move Tool (M), press the left arrow once or twice, then press the up arrow once or twice. 8. Activate the white text layer, press the right arrow once or twice, then press the down arrow once or twice. 9. Gaussian Blur at Radius 1 or 2 any layer that needs it. Note: The size of your text and the desired strength of the effect, dictate how many pixels the black and white layers need to be moved and at what radius to blur each layer. To emboss without plugins: The same method can be used to emboss text, only move the white and black layers in the opposite way.
