  1. Ah, OK. Thanks Benji2. I wonder if this feature would be useful? Another key combo would produce a non-moving selection for the clone stamp tool?

  3. I'm not at a PDN equipped machine at the moment: can someone tell me if holding down the CTRL key holds the clone stamp selection in place as your continue to stamp?

  5. We're talking about the possibility of recreating a ray tracing utility in PDN, and I just can't see that happening. It's not just the ray tracing, but the whole 3D modelling environment that need to be reproduced. I did look (briefly) at this, but quickly gave up as it's very daunting indeed! If you really, really need to model 3D object with accurate lighting I suggest POV or a similar utility.

  7. Directional lighting? Have a look in this direction: viewtopic.php?p=171879#p171879

  9. Did you use the built-in forum search, or the custom google one? The latter is far superior: http://www.getpaint.net/search.html. Using this and the search term "install font" leads to a wealth of info. CommanderSozo's reply wasn't cocky, as you neglected to mention you had in fact done a search. If you search & fail to find what you're looking for - let us know that. Then you won't suffer the "use search" responses. Oh, and did you read the fine print in the CS's reply? (very helpful).

  11. It' had been months since my last post (October 2008). So it's not "live", it's very, very dead. Sorry, rule #11 is very clear. Like I said, just start another thread.
  12. A similar method to Ashs' is to use the Outline Selection plugin: viewtopic.php?p=179417#p179417 Define the selection Run the plugin to create a border around the inside of selection Redefine the selection This will only work to shrink the selection. From reading the thread, outlinine the outside of a selection is still in development.
  13. Here's a nice easy technique you could play with: viewtopic.php?p=9710#p9710 If that doesn't work try rendering clouds on a separate layer then playing with the opacity & contrast for that layer.
  14. Necroposting  @Anderpainter: You might like to check the date of the last post before you revive a dead thread. Now I guess a mod will lock this topic, so please continue this discussion by starting another thread.
  15. You can hard code the size of the font. If you set the absolute pixel size (16px as opposed to 1.2em for example), then the font won't resize with the rest of the page. Read more: http://www.bigbaer.com/css_tutorials/css_font_size.htm BTW: this discussion might be best continued in the "Alfredo > Web Design Discussion" thread.
  16. It can't? What's this for then? viewtopic.php?f=16&t=28407
  17. You went to the Tutorials+ section of this forum, right? Then you clicked on the sub-forum called "Text Effects", naturally. And of course you read through at least four topics that have 3D in the title? If not, that might be the best place to start
  18. Definately. Don't use text in your image! Use CSS to overlay the text over your image instead (image will be a background only). Now when the user resizes, the text will resize fluidly with the page. CSS can then be used to give you a nice mouseover (read: HOVER) effect very simply.
  19. Try searching these terms: "Toon Filter", "Pencil Sketch" and "Isolate Lineart" Here's the link to the custom search: http://www.getpaint.net/search.html
  20. No problem at all. I forgive you not using the search function because I wouldn't have found it myself unless I'd seen it before, and known to search for the terms "Glow" and "Line" Remember that the forums built-in search is not as good as this one: http://www.getpaint.net/search.html Welcome to the forum!
  21. This is what I would have tried. You know you can use the nubs to shift the gradient around right? (therefore alignment shouldn't be too much of a problem  ). Try lowering the opacity of the gradient layer to lower the severity of the effect.
  22. Here's a nice and simple rollover technique that enjoys cross browser compatibility: http://www.webcredible.co.uk/user-frien ... tons.shtml The beauty of this technique is that you only need two images. The best (IMHO) method to create these dual images is to recolor the background of your original and then use File>>"Save as" to save out the altered second image. If your original image has separate text and background layers this technique is even easier.
  23. You could also try the WhichSymbol plugin (link in my sig). This plugin accesses the symbols and characters in the fonts that you have installed. "Wingdings" in particular has numerous cool symbols.
  24. All good points. Also perhaps the layer you are typing on is obscured by another layer?
