  1. Yes it does. I mean appended to the file - not in the filename text box. i.e. hitting SAVE with this information Produces this file
  2. <Thread moved to Paint.NET Dicussion & Questions> @bigbear2463: Language and attitude like that will NOT be tolerated on this forum. Drop the attitude and start showing some respect or your stay here will be very brief. DrewDale made a perfectly reasonable inquiry and Daniels provided the answer you wanted. You owe one an apology and the other your thanks as a minimum. I'll reopen this thread to see if you're up to it. <thread reopened>
  3. You don't need to type the extension and you shouldn't. The space you are typing in is for the Filename only. Specify the extension using the drop down list and it will be appended automatically. If you manually type one in after the filename the file will end up with two extensions. re:RAW support. there are a number of plugins. Try each one individually to see if they will work with your camera format.
  4. 100% PDN I checked on plates.co.nz and this plate is actually available!
  5. Cropping the example image to shift focus to the 'rule of thirds' location(s). Like this tutorial: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12282-cropping-photographs-the-rule-of-thirds/ There is also this plugin by @Red ochre: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22810-composition-tool/
  6. From this thread: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/8606-out-of-memory-to-loadedit-an-image-read-this-first/ W = 48 x 300 = 14400 H = 16 x 300 = 4800 W x H x 4 = 276 480 000 Times three for a single layered image. Times 12 for 10 layers and so on.... Kill all other processes then open the image and leave Paint.NET to run. If the image is undamaged it might just load. Eventually. Midora's suggestion is a good one. The only other option I can think of is to whack in another 8Gb of ram.
  7. I still want to see an actual example of the techniques you are expounding before I buy.
  8. Try this: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18950-almost-realistic-fluffy-clouds/ Personally I use Clouds Plugin by @Sepcot when I want more control (i.e. realism) of generated clouds. I believe this plugin was the precursor to the built-in Clouds effect.
  9. Is it as simple as dragging a vertical a transparent gradient over the colossus layer? I may be missing something here, if not... Activate the Gradient tool then set the mode in the Tool Bar to Transparent and the shape to radial. Click and drag in a NW to South direction (hint: use the Shift key which limits angles to 15 degree increments).
  10. If you're having trouble making the text stand out (and don't want a backing panel as Welshblue described above) try switching the text layer blend mode to Difference.
  11. I agree with Skullbonz. Posting some examples here would help users get a feel for the book. Why not assemble and post a PDF giving users a look at some of the actual examples? To be honest I'm disinclined to buy the book just to check it out.
  12. I was under the impression you would be transforming a keyboard. Therefore the regular layout could be duplicated with appropriately sized Excel cells. Your somewhat more challenging layout won't be that easy to replicate except by some hard manual labour.
  13. My workaround: Lay it out in MS Excel and do a print screen followed by a paste into new layer. Use any of a number of plugins (or the magic wand) to remove the white background.
  14. The sample includes no actual guide to the books content. This would be useful to appraise the book.
  15. Most of the lag issues are simply down to the relatively modest hardware. 2. you can't turn the hotkeys off. 3. be more careful where you click or use the hotkey Rick gave you. 4. hardware specs. Time to upgrade RAM and/or processor. 5. search for "custom brushes".
  16. You may have a bad memory module, or possibly a failing hard drive. The reboots and re-installs are not going to help here as you likely have a hardware issue. The only way I know to test memory modules them is to swap them out with a known good one. Other than that - try your local PC repair shop to see if they can test them & replace as required.
  17. Did you download a new version or did you try to re-install the previous download? If you tried the same one, run the Windows Installer CleanUp utility again then try a new download.
  18. I was about to point you to the Paint.NET repair application (find it in your Paint.NET directory), but you've created a separate problem by trying to uninstall. You'll need to remove the remnants of Paint.NET before re-installing a new version. Follow this link: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/692-install-update-or-uninstall-trouble-read-this/ and read the second post carefully. Once you've cleaned out your system, download a brand new copy of Paint.NET from the Paint.NET website and install normally. Good luck!
  19. Sasha has beaten me to the answer! Amazon offer a free Kindle app for almost every device. The PC version is what you need to read my book (or any other Kindle book) on your computer screen.
  20. Every plugin and the contents of every plugin pack is listed in the Plugin Index. Seek and you will find. Hint: It's under O for Octagonal I've updated the links in the Glassy Vase tutorial to point to the plugins required.
  21. Are you sure you have it the right way around? To use the Recolor tool, you need to set the Primary color to the new color. Set the Secondary color to the color that will be replaced. It even says this in the Status bar when the Recolor Tool is active: "Left click to replace the secondary color with the primary color." <Moved to Paint.NET Discussion & Questions>
  22. There will be dozens of methods. Here's another using Conditional Hue / Saturation (plugin): http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21134-how-can-i-create-a-shape-and-recolor-it/?p=348884 You could also use the RGB mode of the Curves adjustment (Adjustments > Curves).
