  1. 1. Activate the background layer by clicking on it in the Layers Window. 2. Press Ctrl + A (Select All) 3. Press Delete. Much easier than your workaround
  2. Thanks Sasha. I guess I should stop buying the cheapest on the market
  3. A brilliant entry Helen, and a well deserved win! Congratulations to Dug and Skullbonz your entries were also very impressive. Thanks Chimay!
  4. Hi Charm. I've added the effect to your thread title. This is a forum requirement as it makes the threads searchable by thread title.
  5. We have several very nice wood tutorials here on the forum. Try searching for them. I've edited this thread title to add the effect you're asking about. It's a forum requirement that thread titles are descriptive - it makes the forum more easily searched
  6. Excellent. I've got a cheap little Epson printer on which cannot specify a DPI What brand are you using?
  7. The placement of the effects is accurate IMHO. Fade Edge is designed to be used with rectangular images (i.e. photos) so resides under the Photo submenu. Edge Fader Extreme works on irregular shapes with a transparent surround. We call these Objects hence the location under the Object menu. Think of it like painting. You would use a roller to paint a wall but not a bike frame. For the bike you'd use a spraycan because the frame when hung up is surrounded by air (transparency). You find spraycans and rollers in different places in your hardware store
  8. Filetypes have their own post in the Plugin Index thread - post #7. Here http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/15260-plugin-index/?p=252171 I can't fault your logic in thinking that Filetypes would benefit from their own thread - but I hate to keep nagging Pyrochild
  9. The templates are set to be the correct size when printed at 300 DPI. Example: open the CD template. Adjust the ruler units to centimeters and you should see that the diameter of the circular guidelines is just over 12cm (124mm). How you transfer this to your printer? I don't know! You should be able to specify a DPI setting. If you can't, then I suggest you stick them onto a USB drive and get your local digital print shop to print them out.
  10. Try these: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/27504-jewel-case-templates/
  11. Fourth - a PDN template for the CD or DVD case with a spine. This template is intended to be folded so the artwork wraps across the back of the Jewel case and onto the spine. EER's Jewel TrayCard Template.zip
  12. Third - a single page template for a CD/DVD case. EER's Jewel Insert Template.zip
  13. Second - a PDN template for a two page (folded) insert. This goes in the front of a CD/DVD case - half is seen as the case cover and the other half the inside cover. EER's Jewel 2 Page Insert Template.zip
  14. I've been asked a handful of times for copies of my Jewel Case templates. Here they are! First up - a PDN template for artwork that actually gets stamped onto a CD or DVD. EER's CD Template.zip
  15. You made the folder in the wrong location. You need it to be in this location C:/count/ See @TechnoRobbo's post above where he says:
  16. Hi Alexander - welcome to the forum. I have a jewel case template on my HDD somewhere. I got this template from a CD production company and altered it to suit my needs. All you need to do it add your artwork and toggle the guideline layer(s) on or off. I've submitted it back to the company and had no issues with it at all. I do recall that it is the jewel case with spine (not the slimline). I'll upload it anyway so you can have a look.
  17. The Recolor Tool when zoomed in is probably your simplest option. The recolor tool preserves shading so it is a fairly easy job to "paint" over the hair with the Recolor Tool set to an appropriate sized brush. To find out how to use this tool, press F1 in paint.net to be taken to the online documentation.
  18. I think DarkShock is correct - you're using the wrong tool. Use this one to move pixels and not this one (it moves the selection outline without moving any pixels in the layer).
  19. Wait. I think I found it. PDN Bulk Updater aka Bulk Image Processor. It has never been released via this forum so is unapproved and possibly dangerous. I'd avoid using it.
  20. I'm still unsure of which plugin you have. Are you're talking about Paint.NET Bulk Image Processor? (It too was removed from the forum because it did not comply with the plugin system). Where did you download it?
  21. Paint.net 4 will have some neat new features for moving layers around. There are also a number of optimizations and performance improvements. I think these will solve the issues you have. Be patient
  22. The Alpha channel = transparency. If you enter any value into the Alpha channel it will be interpreted as an amount of transparency vs. opacity. There is no avoiding this. It's like accepting that the Red color channel denotes the amount of red in a pixel. Transparency is what the Alpha channel is for. So if you paste anything into the Alpha channel what you're doing is adjusting the amount of transparency. It's not a spare color channel you can work with.
  23. It's here Zoom Blur Deluxe. I've added this to the tutorial.
  24. I would be interested in analyzing this further. Is there any chance you could provide access to the source image?
  25. Hi Damian - welcome to the paint.net forum! Honestly - when users want a batch processor we usually refer them to IrFanView. Paint.net is not set up to be used in this way - which is why the 2009 Batch Processor was removed (I assume that's what you're referring to?) A new bulk processor has been recently released. It relies on the Scriptlab plugin to automatically apply effects and filters, but does not have access to all of paint.net's tools, menus, and functions (like Save).
