Image Umbrella: Signatures, Avatars, Logos & Text
Blooper replied to david.atwell's topic in The Pictorium
thanks for the rating, I wasn't really asking for it but I appreciate it anyways. You need a better understanding of composition. I don't know if you're more interested in the Photoshop-style tags you'll see in GFX forums or the less theoretic style we get here, but either way, you'll want one (usually) or two (hard, more common here but not necessarily done well) focal points. A focal point is the most interesting part of your piece; it should attract the viewer's eye immediately. That's why it's hard to have two strong focal points: eyes can only look in one place. In my case, my focal point is the young woman. In your case, you could make the statue less covered up with gray and add the text (make sure it's no wider then 150px) to attract the eye. -

It's very nice, but the text isn't working, it's too bland for the tag. Try adding a fair amount of pizazz to your text: Don't do the exact same thing though, and avoid using distortion effects or rotation on text. -

I'm pretty art-blocked too, can't seem to make anything worth looking at. -

Also your first rule breaking; read the first post, you're supposed to give criticism on the image before yours if it hasn't gotten any. -
Hasn't been mentioned, but like I said if it's in the help files, you don't need to say it

HFTM has no control when it comes to separate x/y/z adjustment.
-
Hmm, that's definitely not the best way to use a C4D. Find some effect C4D packs on deviantart (don't use planetrender's C4Ds, most of them suck), and set them to color dodge or additive.
-
I remember there was an average blur plugin lying about that gave the average color of your canvas. Maybe it can help? [Edit] There, in KrisVDM's pack: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22881&hilit=average+blur

Is that PDN or Gimp? If it's PDN I want the settings. :o [Edit] I actually also want the settings for Gimp if it's Gimp. -
Oh sweet! Very helpful, thanks.

I have no idea what this does, but I'll check it out. Thanks! [Edit] I don't really understand what is changed depending on what numbers I change. All I can tell so far is that the sharpening looks nice [Edit] OH, so if I edit the bottom ones, the effect will move towards the bottom.
-
Yeah, that works assuming no transparency is involved...
-
Is their any hope for this to ever reach PDN? It's really annoying to have to flatten (which takes quite some time once you reach large amounts of layers), copy, undo (takes time as well), then paste, repeatedly to use adjustments like gradient mapping, color filters, levels, color balances... I wouldn't mind if it cleared your clipboard of its contents once you run it.

You've got to love the fact that no one did this (AFAIK) before the CB plugin was out, but now that we have it people like it better this way.

Now that I look at his work again, he really wasn't that great, or at least not in PDN. -
Using the eraser at about 15 opacity mimics soft erasing.

Yeah, it's just the outline, not the inside fill. Common mistake [Edit] Pun not intended -

Well, either it's not funny or I'm not getting it. Not sure if this belongs here since it's about 80% C4D... -

Distracting borders are a bad thing. As for you sig, your effects are kind of messy, though you can get away with that. The colors are no good though. Try burning the outer parts of your tag a bit. -
Yes, compared to 4 288 250 625 with apng and png.

Suggestion: Vertical and horizontal spacing for text

I only just noticed the +print screen part. That fixes the problem, but it'd still be much more practical if it was implemented into the software. Thanks Zagna and EEE. -
dirrections to paint .net
Blooper replied to brickwatt's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Yes, but odds are this person has read this thread, and will either: - never post again - post again, and this time, they will probably think of following the rules. It's not like he can change the fact that he posted in the wrong section now, so not posting until it's moved sounds silly to me. Also, I think there should be more moderators. -

Wouldn't work in my case, but thanks anyways
