  1. I think all of you have a slight idea of what my OS UI is going to be like... a b c d e
  2. Well actually, Paint.NET is the first result for "free image editor" and "gimp alternative"
  3. I think it's supposed to be impossible to get a 5-star from user reviews. Even just one 4.5/5 will take the average down to 4.5, no matter what the other reviews say. So technically, Paint.NET is a 5-star program!
  4. Okay, I opened the sol file... ouch. Line Rider lines are not advanced vectors, just a whole bunch of coordinates!
  5. Well... SOL files are vector/xml/flash files, and Paint.NET is a raster image editing program, and from what I'm guessing, the contents of a Line Rider sol are vectors and some xml code. What I suggest you do is download this. From there, open a Line Rider .sol from: C:\Documents and Settings\**user**\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\**weird folder name**\www.official-linerider.com\ (or localhoast if you downloaded Line Rider to your computer). I'm guessing you already knew the SOL's location, but I just wanted to make sure. Once opened, look for a vector image. Take note of the vector's extension: If it's an SVG, then you are really lucky. Download and install Inkscape. Once installed, create a new document, go to File> Import, and import the picture of your traced image. From there, you'll need to erm, trace your traced image with the Bezier tool. Once traced, save it as an SVG and find a way to place it in the SOL (I haven't tried the sol editor myself, so you'll need to figure that out for yourself). However, if it's an EPS, then you'll have to do a little more digging. I have never used that file format, so hop on Google and find a way to edit them for free (maybe convert SVG to EPS). EDIT: If it's a PDF, then just use Inkscape to trace, then save it in PDF format.
  6. This'll be really useful for making fake heat index maps (among other things)! Great job!
  7. ^Just as d.a said, you should change the title. This is what I did: Adjustments> Auto-Level (Ctrl+Alt+L) It's the fastest solution for beginners
  8. Shhhhh! Don't tell them that! <__< >__> So shall we vote? BTW, to mix a little off-topic in, IMO, the Bugatti and Lambo are ugly things. This is a beautiful car.
  9. I'd probably skin a new-model car like this, this, or possibly this. EDIT: This!
  10. I don't think the idea of a Car Skinning Contest has been brought up yet.
  11. Here's my submitted entry: (click for last screenshot) BTW, I'm voting for Helio. It's more of my style, though it looks like a custom Windows login screen EDIT: Though I do see one problem in Helio's idea... huge file size
  12. Noooo! Never use Overwrite... ever! Unless the situation calls for. But in this case, it doesn't. Follow these steps: 1. Create a new layer 2. Make your brush strokes in full opacity (no alpha) 3. Go to Layer Properties and adjust the layer's Opacity from there It's the easiest (and almost the only) way to make perfect alpha valued brush strokes in Paint.NET.
  13. Google2: With the Drop-down menu clicked: (click on it to view an stylized, uncropped screenshot) Now in a real web page!* I'll add the drop-down menu in the web page later. *Requires either Firefox or Opera to view it perfectly EDIT: Oh, and no source images were used! 100% Paint.NET, CSS, and HTML!
  14. Remember that good ol' phone, the Neo1973? Of course you do, it's my avatar! Well I finally decided to make Paint.NET version of it, to make my avatar 100% PDN with no source images. Here's what I have so far: I had to save it as a JPEG because the PNG is over 2 MB
  15. Nope, not text, part of the image. I had actually added that 2 in GIMP, and what a pain it was! 5 minutes of opening, closing, rearranging, and yelling at large dialog boxes and trouble getting the color I wanted with the antialiasing I'm used to seeing on text. So later on, I replaced that GIMP "2" with the 10-second "2" in Paint.NET! And no yelling at dialog boxes, either ATTN! http://usedhonda.110mb.com/g.htm It's done! And it doesn't look right in IE! And looks almost exactly like the concept! Comments please!* *Comments from Firefox, Opera, and Safari users only [edit] EDIT: Just like the concept
  16. The Google Web Accelerator also causes you to log out (and it's for all web browsers). All you need to do is click on the speedometer, and click "Don't accelerate this website".
  17. Status report: Concept Coded web page EDIT: Now I got the 2-pixel borders (like in the concept) working with the power of CSS! I'm too lazy to post an updated screenshot of it...
  18. This rip-off has been done many times. Remember the shareware program called "Sharp Paint" in February? And if you look in Rick's MSDN blog, you'll see another eBay rip of Paint.NET. Look at the last few results: http://search.ebay.com/paint-program Luckily, PDN isn't ripped of as much as GIMP: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... age+editor
  19. I was completely baffled and confused about what you were requesting until I read your example. Basically, you want an angle selector using the Conditional Hue/Sat color wheel selector UI [without the color in the circle, of course], right?* *Run-on sentence!
  20. @Bob: Thanks!! @Helio: Wow, this month has really flown by me! I guess I'll need to make this a higher priority than beating Zelda on my emulator. ----- I guess this is a pretty good place to announce that I'll be making an actual web page out of it. And it won't just be a web page, it'll be an entire website! It'll be "gskin.com" (or something related to that).
