Feature Idea- Customizable Layer Blend Modes

Recommended Posts

Since I do not know how to program in C#, I don't know if this would even be possible, but I'll toss it out there anyway.

My idea:

Would it be possible to implement custom layer blend modes in PDN?Perhaps something like the current plugin system, where people write layer blend modes in a .NET programing language, then you download and install them.

Would this be a useful feature to have? I know there is probably a work-around for anything you would want to do, but it is easier to experiment with Layer Blend Modes.

How about just integrating a few more blends modes into the official version?

Nah...if you see the need and utility for more modes, then having an extendable system makes sense for the same reason that the extendable effects system makes sense.

You never know what cool thing some bright developer will give you if you let them.

From that very page:

Note:

The Linear Burn blending mode was introduced in Photoshop 7. It is also known as "Subtract" in some graphics software.

...and from the other:

Note:

The Linear Dodge blending mode was introduced in Photoshop 7. It is also known as "Add" in some graphics software.

Sounds like we already have those two...

Please stop killing threads with quote tags! :-(

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Its pretty much the same as the color tint effect, but its a layer blend. Color tint is limited by the fact that it can only use colors. As a layer blend, you would be able to tint a layer or image with another layer or image, instead of just one color.

I'm still alive!
