Paint.NET v3.05 is now available

Recommended Posts

You know the drill. Either get it at the website, http://www.getpaint.net/ , or via the built-in updater.

For a screenshot rundown of the changes, check out this forum post: http://paintdotnet.12.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=3829

Changes:

    * New: Pencil Sketch effect :PencilSketch:
    * New: In Windows Vista, the new-style Save/Open dialogs are used. Among other things, this enables Search functionality.
    * Changed: The View->Units, Image->Flip, Image->Rotate, and Layers->Flip submenus have been "flattened" (their commands were moved out into the View, Image, Image, and Layers menus respectively)
    * Improved: Download size reduced by about 300 KB by using PNGOUT
    * Improved: Some uses of confusing "MessageBox" style dialogs have been changed to a much friendlier "TaskDialog" style interface
    * Improved: When changing the language, Paint.NET can now restart itself automatically
    * Improved: Better performance for Move Selected Pixels tool for quad-core systems. This issue is documented and explained here, http://blogs.msdn.com/rickbrew/archive/ ... lyzed.aspx
    * Removed: The "Clear History" button has been removed because it was not very useful
    * Fixed: Sometimes the Colors window would get "lost" between sessions of Paint.NET
    * Fixed: Stack-overflow crash when using certain effects, such as Gaussian Blur, on very large images with certain settings (such as a 200 pixel radius)
    * Fixed: When cancelling the multi-image Unsaved Changes dialog, the input focus was sometimes confused
    * Changed: Renamed PdnLib.dll to PaintDotNet.Core.dll
    * Fixed: Very rare race condition in background thumbnail renderer

I had a minor problem with the effects tab in the beta version, but it disappeared in the final 3.5.

Tab, menu, whatever. :P

The problem has re-appeared. When selecting one of the menus, normally you can move your mouse over each one to see its contents, well, the effects menu is not 'droping down' below the other menus. Instead, it is blocking the Window and Help menus.

Wanna screenshot?

How many effects pluck in do you have? I noticed it dose that if there is not room for them all.

This happens when height of the menu becomes greater than the height of the window(when the arrows appear). Switch your screen size to a higher resolution and you'll see what I mean.

Couldn't update. I have XP Pro and everything (important) is up to date. Any suggestions; uninstall and reinstall completely vs. update?

Check out the Bugs & Troubleshooting section of the forum. This isn't the thread to ask about that stuff.

It was maximized!

Edit: I even downloaded two more plugins and it only got larger...

I got one solution for you: Use the arrow keys to navigate to what you can't see. You never know what plugins you have in there!

:P

EDIT: Do you have your task bar set on auto-hide? It gives you a couple of extra pixels to work with.

The Pencil Sketch Effect reminds me of that 80's video from A-ha.

You know.... take on me.

Every poet is a thief.

Both kill their inspiration,

Then sing about their grief.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey all, Im new here.

I just thought Id show my appreciation for the great software that paint is. Ive had it for quite a while and every uodate is quite a help.

I am requesting a update in a feature...

I am a huge (read insanely huge) car fan.. and I need to adjust a scanned image by percentage... so far all that can be done is by left or right, or 90 / 180.

I hope there are other ways of doing this..

Thank you

P.S Id also like to show my appreciation for such a fantastic user interface. Im such a cheap bas*tard that I cant afford the amount that photoshop wants.... (reading wikibooks) CRAZY MAN DAN please please oh please contact me about that book length tutoraial!!
