BlastOfBN
Deviating from Heather & Shayla stuff, I also present to you, these... really rough-for-now, modest, things... I've been pretty secretive about these things, and therefore, I'm not going to directly tell you what these are. That's up to you to take a guess. (please don't take any of these outside of the Paint.NET forums. I prefer to show these things in hyper-professional environments) 1
lynxster4
Cute @BlastOfBN. Some kind of game you're working on? Looks like you have many, many hours invested in this. 😊 1 Quote My Art Gallery | My Shape Packs | ShapeMaker Mini Tut | Air Bubble Stained Glass Chrome Text with Reflections | Porcelain Text w/ Variegated Coloring | Realistic Knit PatternOpalescent Stained Glass | Frosted Snowman Cookie | Leather Texture | Plastic Text | Silk Embroidery Visit my Personal Website "Never, ever lose your sense of humor - you'll live longer"
Pixey
Wow 😱 so many little people @BlastOfBN - aliens? You sure have a talent for making this genre 1 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. And dragons, and griffins, and yaks, and changelings, and Aghulians™️, and humans (that are found in another dimension). There’s way more creatures to list. The world of Equestria is quite strange. I should also mention that this is a fan project; no one from the MLP staff is a part of this thing, it’s just a game that me and a couple of friends are working on. Thanks for the reminder; I now must make sure not to misspell that word (or any word in general) in the game’s script. Funnily enough, this reminds me of the unconscious status in EarthBound Beginnings, which has it spelt as “Faintd”. Although the misspelling of the word in this case is most likely intentional, considering there’s not much room in that window.
BlastOfBN
My ideas for Heather & Shayla merchandise were very wide, ranging from baby stuff, bedroom stuff, birthday stuff, car stuff, cups, mugs, shirts, pants, pins, posters, stickers, you name it. The first thing I ever intended to bring into the real world was this Baby on Board car window sticker with a baby Cindy. I harvested this idea from the fact that a lot of drivers in my area have these on the back of their cars, as well as stickers in general (like that green car with a Sanrio Keroppi sticker whose color is of the same as the car's paint, which belongs to someone lives from me several doors down from me. Sanrio is just really popular here in SoCal. Why I've got a couple Sanrio vinyl figures on my shelf right now!). On the topic of the illustration of this planned sticker, the way I illustrate baby eyes is really just through making the pupils big, and giving them a Pac-Man sort of shape, or any other shiny texture and/or pattern. When this plans to go on-sale is unknown for now, as Heather & Shayla isn't quite ready for the open world at the moment. By the way, my dad seems really eager about me making merchandise, with him being a merch designer. 1

BlastOfBN
they're talkin'. This, this is just a demonstration of the talking animation for several of the characters, which plays when a character has dialogue. I try to keep a character's talking animation at least two frames (which heavily appeals to me for some reason), because April 1, 2006, but at the same time, October 10, 2010 (and the occasional December 28, 2022). Why did I choose the dragons over the ponies for this (the main selling point)? Good question... because I'm actually not sure. 1
lynxster4
Very good 2-frame animation for your characters @BlastOfBN. 😊 Keep up the good work! 1 Quote My Art Gallery | My Shape Packs | ShapeMaker Mini Tut | Air Bubble Stained Glass Chrome Text with Reflections | Porcelain Text w/ Variegated Coloring | Realistic Knit PatternOpalescent Stained Glass | Frosted Snowman Cookie | Leather Texture | Plastic Text | Silk Embroidery Visit my Personal Website "Never, ever lose your sense of humor - you'll live longer"

BlastOfBN
Although, I feel like it would have been more impressive if I were to showcase the walking animations, which utilize about three frames most of the time (right foot raised forward, left foot raised backward, idle pose displays as the second frame, and mirrors the first frame of the animation to give off the impression of walking, even with the low resolution of the sprites). This is something that one might call a “fan-game” made by some dedicated stallions (and one mare). The only guy that I’ve shown that is a creation of mine is this dude: (yes, that’s one of my MLP OCs. There’s more)
BlastOfBN
This right here is a much more complex animation for Spike; his primary melee attack, the Claw Swipe, where Spike slashes the enemy with his sharp dragon claws. 21-34 damage, 52-75 if Ka-POW'd (at least in the starter stats. They change as a character's stats change throughout the game). By the way, yes, all of this was done in PDN, otherwise I wouldn't have posted this here. BlastOfBN
Back on the topic of Carter, here's a view of his entire body: Who is he, you may ask? He's essentially... well, me! This is something one may call an "avatar", or a "per/fursona" (fursona in this case due to his "furry physique", please don't look at me in a negative light :S). Many people have a character that represents themselves, whether it be a human, an animal, or even something in the middle, like this!
BlastOfBN
It's Heather again! Except this time, she's dressed up! Sometime around April of this year, I started to design outfits for the main characters for Heather & Shayla, with a little help from a friend. The outfit you're looking at right now was designed by him (though he designed the outfit for Heather and Shayla about a year and a half ago). Why did I do this, well, here's a list of reasons: With outfits, the characters can better express and differentiate themselves from one another. It adds more life to the characters, making them look less bland and pedestrian. I figured since the adults in HS wear clothes, why not the kids and the teens (Heather is canonically 15, FYI)? If anything, it felt strange that they weren't. They would wear clothes on occasion depending on what they were doing, or what time it is, so how about giving them outfits to wear casually? Also, one more thing; am I breaking Rule 22 by having "ヘザー" (Hepburn: Hezā) written on the image? I mean, it's just Heather's name written in Japanese katakana via gairaigo.

The intention of rule 22 "All forum activity must be in ENGLISH" is to ensure that questions/answers/signatures etc. are in a single common language, which for paint.net is English. This maximises the number of people who can participate in discussions, even if some people have to use auto-translation tools to do so. You are not breaking rule 22 by having a katakana transcription of your character's name (or anything else that your post is not reliant on) in your image. 5 hours ago, BlastOfBN said: Why did I do this, well, here's a list of reasons All very sensible 👍

BlastOfBN
Shayla's in on it, too! Just like the last outfit, this one was designed by a friend, and I would take that design and implement it into Shayla's design.
BlastOfBN
And so is Cody! Oh, and because of his new outfit, I will say I am a bit prouder of his design than before. He looks a lot less "bothering" to me, personally.
BlastOfBN
Olivia, who always sort of wore clothing (if a tutu and a pair of ballerina shoes count) is now fully clothed from head to toe! Olivia's new outfit strives for a more casual-looking appearance, as apposed to her semi-ballerina outfit that would be worn constantly. For example, notice how I swapped the ballerina shoes for tennis shoes. Although that doesn't mean I'm abandoning those, they're just put aside for her ballerina outfit for when she does ballet. Even her casual outfit is still reminiscent of what this bunny does best!
BlastOfBN
Cindy's outfit is now a more permanent feature! Which I have a lot to say about. Yes, that does mean this outfit did exist before clothing became more of an actual feature on Heather & Shayla characters. I had first devised this outfit back in late 2022. I during that time, I would only feature clothing on the characters whenever I wanted to. Of course, I had to choose my favorite rock star, Cindy Baker/シンディ・べイカー(Hepburn: Shindi Beikā)! Yeah, they have full names. 1.5 years later, and I would reimplement this as her appearance. I have designed clothes for characters before, but many of them would later get scrapped and replaced by a different design (which I'll delve into more another time). I feel like the reason why I kept this outfit instead of making a new one from scratch was because I made this during the time when Heather & Shayla knew much more about itself, and it learns more about itself every day. Another reason was simply because the outfit was simple, recognizable, and easy to remember. It gives our favorite vixen an appearance that makes her stand out from other characters in the franchise. It's just more fun when everyone has their own little things that put together their identity!
BlastOfBN
Have you seen him? No? It's Jacob! He knows how to make fun out of anything! Yes, I haven't posted him on here before. I've always wanted the main cast to have an even balance in gender. Even so, look at the numbers right now: Male Characters: 8 Female Characters: 10 Even 3.5 years of development, that didn't seem to balance it out. Do I need more? I feel like 18 is enough for a main cast.
