Problem updating to 4.28

I run PaintNet 4.27 on Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) SP1. I have tried several times over the past couple of weeks to try to update to 4.28.

I always get this error message: "There was an error while checking for updates. There was an error decompressing the download."

I searched the forum for 'updates' and could not find this issue addressed. Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, what is the solution?

We all love Win7, but you need to update your operating system.

Windows 7 is being end-of-lifed next month.

Windows 7 is still supported though. I haven't decided how long Paint.NET will continue supporting it, but likely as long as Chrome or Firefox do.

You should be able to get this fixed by running PdnRepair.exe from the application directory. Let us know if it still gives you trouble.

Rick:

That fixed it! Now updated to 4.28. Thanks so much.

And thanks for continuing to support Windows 7. I remember how long it took me to update from XP to Win 7 and get everything set the way I like to operate. I am not quite ready to do that again--especially at my age.

Yeah it's really even not that big of a change, in my opinion. (going from 7 to 10, I mean)

Better to get started on it now -- it's only going to get harder as time goes on :)

I had this problem too. Repair fixed it even though I didn't reboot. :P W7 4ever like I did with XP Pro. SP3. I might go Linux fully after W7 gets too old and useless on my decade old PC.  :)

Thanks - PdnRepair solved the problem
