Sarkut
kayliedanielle, My answer would fit better if this had been left in GD&Q. (Edit: I forgot to add the smiley.) I suggest using the outline technique shown in this tutorial, in combination with a blur. Instead of cutting out your central image, use the outline to define the area to be selected by Magic Wand and then blur that part of the texture before applying it to your background image. Remember to draw your outline on a transparent layer above your background. pyrochild
any progress on the scattering function? This is implemented now, along with: Moved to Effects > Tools > Smudge Tons of performance improvements (much faster than Photoshop or GIMP!) Now correctly handles 0-alpha (no fringing!) Smoothness works how I want it to. Finally. Jitter Rounding errors fixed (reported here) Zoom/history icons match PdN's new set SmudgeRenderer abstracted into QueuedToolRenderer Race conditions that affect history/abort/ok being enabled/disabled at the wrong times fixed As far as I know, this build is now superior in every way to GIMP or Photoshop, both of which are slower and handle alpha incorrectly in several situations. GIMP does have 1 feature this doesn't: a brush that can fade out. Coming soon? Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Sarkut
Yes, but you don't have to install all of them. Only install Smudge.dll and pyrochild.effects.REQUIRED.dll if you want only Smudge.
darksidefnothing
Smudge tool was the biggest missing thing from Paint.NET imo. Thanks! But could you help me out with the plugging-in part? It's different than the normal rout and I'm having trouble with it. I followed the instructions given "Documents > Paint.net > User files...but I have no custom brushes folder. I tried just creating one, but it didn't seem to work. What should I do?
Cookies
I too have problems selecting a custom brush, I have mine in the required folder in PDN user files, but when I select a custom brush, nothing happens all it does is open the brush I selected in windows picture viewer. Running Pentium Quad / Windows 7 Pro. You have to move the brushes into that folder and then restart smudge, i think the files have to be PNG, dont know, then they should show up in the brush menu

Sorry to be a bother! I'm not sure which brushes you're talking about. Do I have to download a brush pack plug-in? Also, not sure which folder. Should I create a custom brushes folder in PDN User Files?

Alright, lets say you want to install this brush http://cookies.dcsrvdls.com/images/squarebrush.png go into Smudge and in the brush list click "Add/Remove Brushes" and then put the brush in the folder that pops up, then go back to PDN and look in the brush list, the squarebrush should now be in the menu ready to use
pyrochild
I am still having problems adding a brush. I have the pyrochild.effects.REQUIRED.dll in the right place, I have PNG file format brushes in Documents/Paint.NET user files/Custom brushes, but still it will not lt me add or remove a brush. I have tried many other ways without success. Any help would be most welcome please. What do you mean it won't let you? Are they just not showing up in the brush dropdown within Smudge? Click Add/Remove Brushes to verify that the files are in the correct location. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!
