  1. You can make a new layer, draw the tic-tac-toe pattern with the Line / Curve tool, and save the image as a transparent PNG. This can then be imported as a new layer into any .pdn file you want it in. Layers > Import From File... What's not possible is to have a plugin create a new layer.
  2. Can you post some links to images of the type you that want to produce?
  3. Yes Heat Stroke, the paper is levitating in deep meditation. I'll have to re-visit the .pdn file to determine how/whether it can be packaged as a tutorial, csm.
  4. I like that starfield, Heat Stroke. Page Curl Trial http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/8563/pagecurl01.png
  5. It's a plaid world. http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/3493/plaidpng02.png
  6. Open Paint.NET and import the image that you want as background. Layers > Import From File... Next, import the image that you want to be transparent. Layers > Import From File... Press F4 on your keyboard. Adjust the Opacity slider. You might want to change the Blending Mode to Multiply, or not.
  7. I believe that the user is trying to open the .dll file with Paint.NET. Of course the file needs to be copy/pasted into the Effects folder, not opened. ===================================== Have the person post a help request in this thread:
  8. For the top picture, open your smoke stock photo In Paint.NET and add a new layer. Press F4, and set the Blending Mode to Multiply, Color Burn, or Overlay. Use the Paintbrush tool to add purple splotches, then blur it. Effects > Blur > Gaussian Blur =========================================== For the bottom picture, make a color gradient in a new file. Then import the tree branch silhouette photo. Layers > Import From File... Set its Blending Mode to Additive. http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/3447/treegradient01.png
  9. That's the zoom level at which the image is being shown.
  10. The checkerboard is how Paint.NET represents transparency. They aren't actually part of the image, and won't show in a viewer or if posted on the web. If you position a new layer as bottom layer, and fill it with white, then the white will block the appearance of the checkerboard in Paint.NET. --------------------------------------------------- When pasting a selection that contains transparency, paste into a new layer above the background layer. Doing it this way you'll avoid having the transparent part of the selection being applied to the background image. .
  11. I think that doesn't work for anyone any more. Those who uploaded a profile photo in the early days of the new forum have a profile photo, but can't change it now. Profile Photos Turned Off?
  12. Poll is up ! Vote for your three favorites.
  13. For that specific example, copy the Pencil-Sketched layer into a new layer above the new background. Then, press F4 and set the Blend mode to Multiply. This plugin is also useful for eliminating specific colors. Grim Color Reaper As shown in this thread: Edit: BoltBait types faster than I do.

  15. Make a new (transparent) layer above your background image. Add blobs of dark color to the areas that you want to be darker parts of the gradient. (Use the Paintbrush tool with a fairly large brush size.) Apply Gaussian blur at a high radius. 70 to 80 radius would be a good range for this image size. Press F4 and adjust the Opacity slider until it looks right to you.
  16. Use the Paintbrush tool, with Antialiasing Disabled. http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/4877/aadisabled01.png
  17. Thanks barbieq. This tutorial is very helpful, and long awaited.
  18. By restart, I mean close the program, then open it. Nothing more than that. To install the file simply download the zip to Desktop or Downloads folder, open the zip by left-click, copy/paste the .dll into the File Types folder. Do you have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows?
  19. If the .dll was correctly installed in the File Types folder, restart Paint.Net. With your .pdn file open, do: File > Save As... Photoshop .psd should now be an option in the Save as type: drop down menu of the Save As ... dialogue.
