  2. How does the test image look compared to your .5 example? The test was done using your posted original. Don't know how it will translate if applied to actual sized sprite. This was done by duplicating the layer, applying Gaussian blur at 1.0, and reducing opacity to 128. ===================================================== Use Full Editor Other styles > Hide
  3. There is more than one way of doing this. One way to do it is to open your niece's picture in its own file and use: Image > Resize. After resizing bring it into the plane picture file with: Layers > Import From File...
  4. You can duplicate the layer, turn the top layer black and white, then use the Eraser tool where you want the color to show through. After all erasing is done follow up with the Feather Object plugin effect to soften the erased edges.
  5. Using this example, position a solid green layer below the blue/black layer In the Layers window, click on the blue/black layer to highlight it as the active layer. Use the Color Picker tool to set the primary color to the color that you want to eliminate. (In this case, black.) Apply the Grim Color Reaper plugin effect, with What color? set to Primary Color. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7994/recolorzzxx01.png Grim Color Reaper
  6. If the floating windows don't disappear when you press Print Scrn, you can press Ctrl + Alt + V after Print Scrn to capture the screenshot in Paint.NET. Other than that, maybe changing the Gadwin configuration for delayed capture will work. There is no provision for locking the windows in the way that you mean.
  7. The poll will remain open until Sunday September 19, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Saving Time.
  8. Bad luck there. Do the floating windows disappear when you press Print Scrn on the keyboard?
  9. The tutorial you are referring to is this one: At this step in the tutorial, in the Layers window, after inverting the selection remove the checkmark from the bottom layer, and click on the middle layer to highlight it as active layer before hitting Delete. Because the bottom layer is identical to the middle layer when you delete the selection in the middle layer, it looks as though nothing has happened. Removing the checkmark from the bottom layer makes it temporarily not-visible. Just so you know, if you have a question about a specific tutorial, the question should be posted in that tutorial's thread instead of in General Discussion & Questions.
  10. In the menu at the top right, click on Window. Remove the checkmark from Translucent. The Gadwin freeware is my usual screenshot tool. No problem, so long as the windows aren't set to Translucent.
  11. The poll is now open. Vote for the best three. ======================== Poll closed.
  12. Entry for AOTW #11 is scheduled to close tonight at 8:00 P.M. EDST If you are in the process of working on an entry, but need a bit more time, let me know right away. If the extra time needed seems reasonable, I will extend the deadline. ============================================ Edit - Entry to AOTW #11 is now closed to additional entries. ============================================ The poll is now open. Vote for your three favorites HERE.
  13. You can resize a selection that contains the text, using the Move Selected Pixels tool. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/MoveTools.html
  14. Follow the links to the cutting-out-images tutorial.
  15. Right-click Paint.NET shortcut icon. Properties > Open File Location ------------------------------- Does the previous apply on your system? Does it open the Paint.NET program folder for you?
  16. I think that popdosprite may want to access the Open Recent thumbnail as an image file.
  17. Follow the links to the cutting-out-images tutorial.
  18. Yes. Erasing does that. What would you rather have there instead of the transparent area?
