Wispy Hair and Backdrops
Sarkut replied to Tammy Snyder's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Dealing with wispy hair on cut-outs can be tricky. I would handle it on a case-by-case basis depending on what is going on in the particular image. Best thing would be if you can post links to full resolution copies of the original unedited picture and also a full resolution version of your cut-out edit. Save as PNG. If there are concerns about preserving privacy, blot out facial features on the copies before posting. -
How to download photo Backdrops for portraits
Sarkut replied to Tammy Snyder's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Do the cut-out once, and save as PNG. Next, go to the saved PNG's folder. Right-click the PNG file, then Properties > Read Only. This will prevent the file from being inadvertently overwritten. Open a new file in Paint.NET, then bring in a new background: Layers > Import From File... Next, bring in the PNG cutout that you have saved. Layers > Import From File... You can re-use the cut-out PNG file as many times as you like. -

Transparency isn't working with layers
Sarkut replied to FantasiaWHT's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Use a Radial gradient in transparency mode. Use the right mouse button. Button down, stroke, release. Doing this more than once at the same spot will increase the effect. The interior of the image will remain unaffected. http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/3227/grad01.png -

Recolor the shadow

You can definitely make box shapes with Paint.NET. You can make images with varying degrees of transparency. If you can post some links to the specific type of transparent boxes that you want, you can get some specific how-to suggestions.

As a potentially pointless additional comment, the work-around previously mentioned, does even better using this instead of zoom blur:

Most excellent. Thanks.

HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS/General Plugin Troubleshooting Thread
Sarkut replied to RaveN's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
Enjoy. -
I think that it's mostly a communication error here. If I'm mistaken correct me. You would like to add a black-and-white version of the logo as a background/watermark to another image file. Open both files in Paint.NET. In the top-right you will have two thumbnail tabs for the files. With the now black-and-white file chosen, do this: Ctrl A Ctrl C =================================== Now, in the top-right, click on the thumbnail for the image that you want to add the black-and-white logo to. Now, press: Ctrl + Shift V Next, press F4, and set the Blend mode to Multiply. Adjust the Opacity slider. OK

It should be in the plugin pack. It is needed for the other plugins to work. -

Sarkut replied to RaveN's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
Are you using the current version of Paint.NET? Did you download the plugin pack through this page's link? That looks like an outdated plugin file version. It should be CustomBrushesMini.dll not CustomBrushes.dll Did you install SBCommon.dll? -

So, in Paint.NET with the correct layer active, you do the Ctrl A and Ctrl C then paste in the other program, and nothing happens? What's the other program?
