  1. Oh dear - you downloaded it from the wrong place . You had better run a virus check on your computer right away .
  2. Some really cool results on here . Such fun with this ............ promise I'll stop for a bit after this one .
  3. Hmmm ..... sounds like your computer perhaps? You don't say what OS you have. There are still some old versions available, but will not be supported on this forum. Do be careful when downloading from any other site than here. I think FileHippo is safe ...... but check it out carefully before you do: http://filehippo.com/download_paint.net/15781/
  4. Oh I love it - what a beautiful bird and even the nails have bling . I went back and noticed the cage ........... lovely outcome as well. Me thinks you like birds .
  5. Indeed - thank you for this very interesting plugin . So many ways to try this ......... as I am now doing. Is that you in the examples - with icing sugar all over your face .
  6. Hellow @kml and Welcome . Whilst this is not exactly a brush, it may give you an idea of how people use PDN to make things: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/28498-how-to-make-a-pencil/
  7. Oh My ...... that is just gorgeous @Lynster . I'll bet @seerose likes the flower Emblem you chose .
  8. Wow! @Seerose and @Limon - what beautiful bottles ..... I feel like I'm in a Boudoir Thanks so much for posting your results .
  9. Wow - those buildings are amazing. Love your Pink Bottle - I know it will smell wonderful too .
  10. 'Tis funny about making Gold in PDN. Here is where the word 'size' makes such a difference. Somethings look great by doing one method, but doesn't work on another. I also sometimes use the Alpha-Displacement method (I used this on the bling bracelet) but again, it all depends on what you are making. Your way is great for the finer stuff and I particulary like it in delicate text . @Seerose - glad you liked the tute .
  11. Have you tried the Adjustments menu at the top and the Hue/Saturation?
  12. Thank you @NN for dropping in. Look forward to your result . Thanks @BBQ . Nice one @Dipstick . Yes, one doesnt have to make Bling .......... it can be used for making anything you like.
  13. This tutorial is available as a PDF. Click here to view or download it Make A Gold Encased Bottle As requested, here is a tutorial on making gold over a bottle. For my Bling Perfume Bottle I used the Circle Text Plugin to make the letters and shapes, as seen at the beginning of Barbieq's Jewel Tutorial here. For this tutorial I've kept it a little simpler by using another method. Here is the end result. Plugins used: Metalize, AA's Assistant Align Object Alpha Mask Gradient Mapping Hexagonal Grid WhichSymbolPlus Bevel Selection Sarkut's Gold Gradient XML is at the bottom of the tutorial. After you have downloaded the XML at the bottom of the tutorial Copy/paste the XML into this folder: "C:\Users\<"Username">\Documents\Paint.NET User Files\Effect Presets\Gradient Mapping" Begin with an Image size of 3500 x 3500. A larger canvas gives a nicer result, but do remember to save often during the process. On the background layer make a B&W Gradient. New Layer. With the Rectangle Select Tool draw a rectangle on the canvas and fill it with a Linear Blue (0094FF) & White gradient. Align lower center, but move it up a little to leave a space below. (Optional - you can use Frosted Glass if you like). Duplicate this layer and save one for later, for the bottle top - uncheck it for now. Make a New Layer above the Bottle layer. Use the Rectangle Select Tool to draw another rectangle so that it extends slightly over the edges. With yellow color FFD800, fill it with a Hexagonal Grid - with center boxes checked - Size horizontal = 100 and use the brush size at about #15. This will be called the 'Mask Layer'. This will be the method used to 'mask' and make the Gold, which will be repeated throughout the tutorial at certain intervals. 1. Gaussian Blur the Yellow Hex lines at strength #1. 2. Copy the Mask layer into the clipboard. On your keyboard, press: Ctrl + A Ctrl + C Ctrl + D This will select All of the layer, Copy the selection into the Windows clipboard, and Deselect. Make the Mask layer not visible. (Once you've finished the 10 steps, below, you can erase the mask layer). Position a new layer below the Mask layer, and use the rectangle select to make a rectangle slightly larger than the bottle & fill it with a vertical linear gradient of Hex C0C0C0 to Hex A0A0A0. Name the layer 'Bottle Mesh'. Remember to save your work periodically as this large canvas can slow things down. 3. Apply Alpha Mask with all checkboxes filled. Don't panic if your see nothing at first, as the lines will be rather faint. 4. DuplicateLayer: and merge this layer 2 - 3 times to get a good outline. (Remember - keep saving your work) 5. With the Shift key down, Magic Wand the alpha outside the Hex's, and invert selection. (Check your tolerance bar for the correct strength in order to select the boxes correctly.) Make a new layer above the Hex's and apply Bevel Selection with "Keep original image" UN-checked. 6. Deselect and Gaussian blur @ 4 radius. 7. Merge Layer Down Beveled layer to the Hex layer . Duplicate the resulting layer twice. 8. Apply Color - Metalize - Type3 to the top Layer, Type2 to the middle & Type1 to the lower layer. 9. Set the middle and top layers to Negation blend mode. 10. Gaussian Blur all three Hexagon layers @ Gaussian Blur x 2 radius. Merge Layer Down to the middle Hex layer & then down to the bottom Hex layer Apply AA's Assistant at default settings. Use Gradient Mapping to colorize. Or, if you want to leave it silver/Chrome ....... stop here. Be sure to have the Preserve Alpha box checked. You can also use the Brightness / Contrast to give more shine. Align your work. New Layer. Use Shape to Draw a 'Rounded Rectangle Outline', in yellow, with brush size #20 to 'encase' the bottle. Then repeat Steps 1 - 10 to get a gold outline around the bottle! It may be easier to see if you make the previous Gold Layer invisible (uncheck the layer) as you work with the outside. You can then merge the Gold Outline layer with the Gold Mesh. Align your work. Use Brightness / Contrast to lighten the Gold. Note: You can stop here or continue to make an Emblem for the center. New Layer - I made the triangle with @EER's WhichSymbolPlus Plugin and Windings2. Resize the Symbol to fit. Then repeat steps 1 - 10 for gold. At the Bevel Selection step - increase the bevel to #10. Then go to the mesh layer and erase some of the Hex's in the middle of the bottle. At this point make sure to Align your work. * (You could, at this point, flatten the image here and duplicate the bottle & resize it to make the lid. However, it doesn't look as good as making a new one ..... as per below.) Resize the Duplicated Bottle layer to a square - for the top of the bottle. Align work. Leave a gap between the top and bottom of the bottle for a metal rim. New Layer - with rectangle select, make a small rectangle and fill with a black & white gradient. Gaussian Blur at #2. No need to make a gold mask, just go to Gradient Mapping and use Sarkut's Gold again and play with the slider to get a nice shine. Also you can use Brightness & Contrast to lighten it further if needed. Select the bottle top with the magic wand (use a low tolerance, or use the Rectangle Select if it won't select) and make a New Layer. Repeat making the Hex's in yellow, but a smaller size (80) for the gold. Also add a rounded rectangle to this layer as well, instead of doing it in two steps. Duplicate the Emblem, move the layer up to the top & resize it over the bottle lid & erase some Hex's on the gold mesh layer like before. Here I usually delete the background layer, flatten and resize the bottle by 25% and then save to .png. Then I re-upload it into Paint.net and scale it down again then duplicate it, flip it vertically, move it down and use the Gradient, in Transparency Mode, to get a shadow and lower the opacity and save again. Also, when I made my Bling Bottle I duplicated the gold layers, turned the lower one to black with the Brightness / Contrast knobs pulled to the left and used them for a little shadow. If you've made it this far you will probably be sick of making Gold If you have trouble downloading Sarkut's XML at the bottom of this tutorial you can also still find it on his old tute in the Graveyard found here. Sarkut's Yellow Gold.xml
  14. @Seerose & @Maximilian - I am on it ............. Hopefully by the weekend.
  15. @Ishi & @Seerose - Thank you so much. Yes, I would be very happy to make a tutorial based on this Bling Bottle - so, it's now in the pipeline . @lynxster - I used the premise of @BBQ's tute in using the "Circle Text Plugin" idea, but I used another method for making the gold - it is based on a tute by Sarkut (who is no longer around) which has lost all of it's pictures, but a method which works well for thicker lines. Hopefully I will be able to 'insert' his XML file into the tute, to use with Gradient Mapping .
  16. @Helen and @ReMake - thank you so much . @lynxster4 - so glad you like the gold work ...... I really have fun making it (as perhaps you can tell ) Thank you! @Limon - you are so kind to drop by and comment ..... it's much appreciated. If I were to make the perfume, it would smell like musk and lillies . @Maximilian - thanks a million Maximilian
  17. Yes, you can cut out the background you don't want. Use the Magic wand to select the white and use the Tolerance Bar in the top toolbar, to regulate how much white is being selected: Save the image as .png then the backgound will remain transparent for future use. For perusing subjects in the forum, here is a great search link.
  18. @Helen - Thank you ...... we sure have that in common aka the bling and perfume bottles . Thank you @BBQ - wot you said it rhymes beautifully - you are very poetic! Hey @Dryda ....... thanks so much . Actually I was not sure which image to post ........ the one I did, or the first one without the third tier of bling. Like so many of you on here, I know it's always tough to decide on which one to post.
  19. Sooooo - I'm taking a break from Ultra Fractal 5 and am back to PDNing again. It really does become part of one's life after so many years. My latest Perfume Bottle:
  20. I'm just catching up with all your new pictures ........... every one so beautiful as those before. The angels are darling
  21. Wow - that's so clever well done! (Hope it doesn't get banned by @EER - 'cos of the gal in the bikini ).
  22. Wow! You have been busy. Fiddly stuff making those shapes I'll bet. Congrats on your latest pack and also on your crown - well deserved . Hope you get dug out soon - it does sound cold and looks messy. A week ago, in the wee hours of the morning, we had tornadoes hit us here in Florida. It was really scary and two people died. Didn't know it was tornadoes until the next morning. Better that way, I think .
