  1. Are you adding noise to blank layers (fully transparent) or to white ones? Add Noise has no effect whatsoever on a transparent layer.
  2. Are you able to see the accompanying images in the tutorial? They are there, trust me on this . Do you have a proxy-block blocking graphics from Photobucket, or some browser ad-blocker you may have accidentally set to block all Photobucket graphics?
  3. No, but it is with the latest version, v3.36. You need to update before you [rule=7]receive any more help[/rule].
  4. Have you placed the unzipped DLL into C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects, restarted Paint.NET and used the plugin?
  5. Do remember to post in the correct section. You have a technical issue with crash log, so the Troubleshooting & Bug Reports section would be the most logical place to post. Moved to Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
  6. Are you attempting the animation of your rain, or simply the rain itself? If it the former, then it is not animating because you have saved the file in a format that cannot handle animation, JPG. You would need to save it as a GIF image. However, as the application UnFREEz does not create animations unless all frames are GIF, I'm inclined to believe your problem has something to do with the latter assumption: creating a still image of rain. If you could tell us how you are trying to do this, we can help you out a little easier; it could be a step you've missed or a step that cannot work because of the image itself (as you said, it could be too white). Basically, how much of the tutorial have you been following? I apologise if this sounds like a lot of questions to ask, but I'm trying to gain as much information as possible so we can have you set on your way as soon as can be.
  7. Hello ORION46. An error message you say? Could you copy the error message to here for us, please, also any crash logs that may have appeared on your desktop (if applicable)? You see, we aren't psychics and can't diagnose bugs with no clue to the cause of the error .
  8. What part exactly are you having the most difficulty with, Pink-Anime?
  9. However, despite not having plugins for these features, you can resize the canvas via the menu command Image > Canvas Size. Whilst it's not as manual as MS Paint, it does get the job done, if a little more accurate as well.As for the image navigator for when you're zoomed in, that has been the topic of discussion a few times ([1], [2]). As you will read, the idea hasn't been debunked, just sat on for pondering of a suitable means to implement an image navigator. Chances are, though, you won't see anything of the like soon within the 3.xx series of Paint.NET. (That doesn't mean you will with the first release of v4, mind.)
  10. Maybe Blisset is meaning something more akin to Photoshop or The GIMP, where each document is an free-floating window rather than tab? After a little reading, it seems Paint.NET utilises the (commonly-associated) browser's version of MDI, TDI; we are tabbed à la Firefox, Opera, IE, etc..
  11. Howdy gartenriese. Hmm, there is no specific application where you can define line properties, like angle or length. This is in part because of the Status Bar at the bottom of the screen; drawing lines, shapes and gradient in Paint.NET is live, all the information about the drawing is displayed on this Status Bar. Therefore, with this in mind, you can draw your line as you normally would whilst keeping an eye on the status of the line at the bottom. With Transit Maps in particular, features constructed of 45°, 90°, 180° angles, there is a handy shortcut in Paint.NET to make this easier: hold the Shift key. By holding the Shift key whilst drawing, you are constraining the line to angles of 15°, which so happens to include the angles listed before. Don't forget the Help Documentation as well, where you can find out about the Line / Curve tool, plus everything else.
  12. And do we all know what happens to [rule=11]bad mannered[/rule] people? That's right...Topic locked
  13. Hello Inlovewithnight. It all depends on how and what you want your tube to be like. With the details you have given, I would suggest the Tube Effect by MadJik. However, this may not be what you are looking for. If it isn't, an example image would be superb in describing exactly (or near so) what you're after.
  14. I do apologise if you already have, but this is often overlooked: have you tried this thread 'Problems with Install Update or Uninstall? Read This'? It has on many occasions solved the problem.
  15. Greetings cdgrant777. You say you want the opposite out of the mask? Have you tried the checkbox option 'Invert Mask' in the plugin? That has the same effect as switching the black with the white of the mask. Alternatively, on the mask itself, you could invert the colours with the menu command Adjustments > Invert Colors, resave the image and try again. Or, have I misunderstood you completely and you want the opposite out of something else?
  16. Paint.NET is a raster editor, not a vector one. Paint.NET can, and for the foreseeable future (of the 3.xx series), only deal with bitmap images comprised of pixels. May I ask why you're enquired about paths? Perhaps we can direct you to an alternative piece of software that will serve your needs, or another method to complete the task which Paint.NET can do.
  17. Hey there LAPIII. If you were to zoom in beyond 100% magnification, is the grid now visible?
  18. Hello hawk. The folder is created when you first open/save a custom colour palette, or use a plugin such as Simon Brown's Custom Brushes. If you need to create it, on the Colors child window you'll notice the 'Manage color palettes' icon ( ). Click this icon and select the option 'Open Palettes Folder', which will then automatically generate the folder if it's non-existent.
  19. Greetings gnat. I should bring to your attention that your topic title breaks [rule=6]Rule 6[/rule], which explains that topic titles must be descriptive. This in order for both the right user to see your problem and help more efficiently, and more importantly, for a clean and organised Forum; imagine if the Forum was littered with 'help!' and 'how do you do this???'. Madness it would be. Utter lunacy. Because of this, I'm going to lock your topic. This doesn't stop you from posting again, in fact, we'd be more than happy to extend the hand of help when you need it, just like we have here: worldnewser's reply is quite right. Topic locked
  20. This is truly puzzling. Does this occur only with this one image, or with others too? The only 'fix' I can suggest is to resave it another application if you are wanting to edit it in Paint.NET. If there is a silver-lining to this black cloud, it's that the image can be opened elsewhere, hence I would do so. I cannot shed any more light on this, perhaps someone else could...?
  21. If you were to follow Rick's blog (linked to by toe_head2001), you will read updates to the 4.xx series as and when they transpire. So far, only the basic backbone of the program has been coded: the installer to name one 'vertebrae' - and that isn't even fully complete yet. There is much to do and Rick is working at the best pace he can, bearing in mind he has a regular job and life to lead in between coding. If you are looking for a time frame, the best answer you will hear is next year at the least.
